More 3D Printing

Got another one ready for the Printer... Behold, the Iron Mole! This is a tunneling machine from the old movie "At the Earth's Core" ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074157/ ) . It's about 10 inches long. I'll be printing it out soon, right after Nautilus. I thought the stand came out pretty cool, too. :)

What do y'all think?

That turned out really well!

Also, caught a glimpse of the PIP-Boy on the FB page. I am really looking forward to that one :)

Thanks. :) The Pip-Boy was requested as parts only, since my friend wanted to paint it himself. I'll make sure to get a photo when it's finished, though. :)

Been working on this project for a few days, refining it to what my client wants. I'm thinking of it as an updated Oberth class... It's going to be 15 inches long when it's all printed out. Got lots of detailing left to do. :)

More later on. :)

That design makes more sense than the original Oberth class science vessel. Maybe it's the Von Braun?

Thanks. :)

I started paint on the Nautilus, and the Iron Mole. Just primer at this point; on Nautilus, I will be toning down the red with a lot of brown, and dark green highlights.

Been working on these as well; they are replacement logo badges for a friend's Klipsch speakers. They're about 1 3/4'' wide, at the top.

More stuff soon. :)

Not meaning to hijack your thread or anything MadMan, I really love your prints, its just I've recently got a 3D Printer and I dont think my works warrant a new thread just yet.

Here's my latest after many many attempts - The Cheyenne Class USS Ahwahnee from Wolf 359. I have the Micro 3D printer, and as the name implies its print bed is not gifted with an overabundance of space. That being said its about a 4.5inch by 4.5 inch by 4 inch build platform (roundabouts, I forget the exact dimensions). I've tried several times to print this mesh, the first attempt was a complete failure, the geometry just didn't seem to exist and it printed floating escape pods and nacelles surrounded by unremovable support material. Then I tried vertically, which ended up springing off the printbed (Its not heated) mid print. In frustration, I scaled it down super small to see if it would print at all, and I ended up with the really tiny one you see in the pic. Its about 2cm long and actually has a fair amount of detail.

Anyway, I decided to cut up the Cheyenne class into 10 pieces because I just realised the shape is not conducive to FDM printing, and thats how I ended up with the bigger brother. I've just put her together, and I absolutely love it (even if it's missing some details).

I've also made some other successful prints - my first real success was the mini defiant (which is in scale with the Eaglemoss Deep Space Nine), followed by Thunderbird 1 from the new series and finally the Kyushu. All are my own meshes, and I gotta say - its thrilling to hold something you've been staring at on a screen for years in some cases.

I also printed off a couple of spinning tops from inception, because they're quick and easy and awesome. ;)

Anyhoo, I'll stop hijacking for now. I look forward to what you've got in store MadMan.
