Looking to get a fitted baseball cap. What's a good-looking cap where I wouldn't be accused of jumping on a bandwagon? So no Dodgers cap. This is the store whose inventory I'm looking at. They also have throwback caps:

So once again, Rob Manfred is pondering utterly brilliant ideas that nobody asked for to spice up baseball. ( ) His latest? A "golden at-bat" rule:

Most probably haven't heard of the proposal for a "Golden At-Bat," but the basic concept is that a team could choose one at-bat in every game to use its best hitter regardless of where they are in the lineup. So if, say the New York Yankees had the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the ninth, they could bring Aaron Judge to the plate even if it wasn't his turn in the order. It would be a one-time replacement, not a substitution like a pinch hitter.

There could be variations on it. As The Athletic's Jayson Stark points out, restricting the rule only to teams trailing at the time could be an interesting constraint. It could also lead to scenarios where a hitter bats one spot before his turn in the lineup, so what would happen if he gets on base? Would the original hitter take his spot on the bases, for the Golden hitter to step back in the batter's box for a second consecutive at-bat? There is a ton to think through here.

"That rule, and things like that, are in the conversation-only stage right now," Manfred clarified on the podcast.

Audio of Rob Manfred on the Dan Le Batard Show in 2015 has resurfaced where Jon Weiner pitched the golden at-bat idea and Manfred dismissed it as a waste of time and said it "would interfere with the history and traditions of the game."

The search for more money has no bounds. No matter how stupid the idea is.

Money talks. For three years and $67 million, Luis Severino will gladly play for a bad owner in a minor league ballpark with no shot at the playoffs. I guess this makes him the face of the Sacramento A's?

Clay Holmes leaves the Yankees..... for the Mets. They're going to make him a starting pitcher again.

Giants give SS Willy Adames seven years, $182 million. This is giving me Xander Bogaerts, Anthony Rendon vibes.

Also, the New York Post is reporting that the Yankees, Mets, Red Sox and Blue Jays are all offering Juan Soto $700 million+.

Juan Soto, 15 years, $765 million...... to the Mets.

The Veterans Committee has announced the 2025 inductees: Dick Allen and Dave Parker. Allen should have been inducted decades ago, and it's a shame he didn't live to see it happen.

That’s how they operate. Ron Santo, no no no no, he dies, yes. NFL did the same thing with Ken Stabler.

Don't listen to any of that 'bandwagon' crap. If you see a cap you like, go for it. If you like Dodger caps, get one! Who the hell cares what people think?

That said: If I'm in a 'neutral' situation - i.e.when I'm going to a baseball game but neither the Yankees nor Mets are involved - I'm rather fond of my Liverpool F.C. and COME FROM AWAY caps. 'Cos I'm a huge fan of those as well. ;)

(seriously. I've never been a huge fan of musicals but I've seen COME FROM AWAY six times - three in Toronto, three on Broadway. And thanks to my English relatives I've become a big time Liverpool fan)

I just checked the COME FROM AWAY official site and unfortunately it doesn't look like they have the cap anymore. :( But I'm fairly sure the LFC site still has theirs.

I had lots of different caps as a teen -- Dodgers, Angels, Cubs, Orioles, more -- but eventually grew out of wearing them. Now I'm looking at getting an Expos cap. Possibly another team that no longer exists, but most online stores just stock Brooklyn Dodgers and Washington Senators.

My dad has an Expos cap. He wears it all the time. He has caps from every club out there, and the Expos one is his favorite.

Since there's always a new highest-paid player every year, does this mean Guerrero is getting $800 million next year?
