MLB Chatter 2008

Those blue unis were widely panned on Uni Watch and Sportslogos.net.

They're not the best things in the world, and I highly prefer the red ones... but the white/gray is incredibly boring.

I like the reds better than the blues but I find them slightly garish.

Maybe I'm just old fashioned. I don't mind when a team wears an alt on occasion. Like the O's who wear black on Fridays or the Reds who wear red on Sunday.

It's just that when a team has a home white jersey, alt sleeveless Saturday home jersey, colored daytime home jersey, road gray jersey, and Tuesday road alt jersey, along with 4 difrferent hats to mix and match, it's a little overboard for me.

The most heinous looking one of all is the Rockies black vest with black undershirts and chunky illegible silver lettering.

These are the best blue uniforms out there. ;)

So the Jays sweep, get swept, then sweep again. Interesting. Oh well, we have B.J. back now, and he managed his first save in almost a year. Excellent. :D

Was it last year or the year before when it seemed like the Jays were never involved in sweeps? They would either get win 2/3 or loose 2/3. I remember the fans complaining about it.

Went to the Giants game today. As always a great experiance and the Giants won. Kind of sucked that Pujois didn't play the entire game though.

It almost makes you think, "Gee - I should listen to what that coaster fella tells me." ;)

Thank goodness Boston took 2 of 3 from the Yankees. It was kind of funny about the jersey being buried in the concrete under the new Yankee Stadium. From the interview I heard on tv, sounds like the construction worker is a real nutjob.

But you did get to see that Bowker kid (and I should talk; according to the Chronicle this morning I'm only a year older than him) tee off for his second homer in his second MLB game, something no Giants rookie has ever done. And they at least split the 4-game set against the Cards, which isn't something that one would thought they could have done, at least on paper.

Yeah that was exciting. I didn't even know anything about this guy and he's pretty much the star player on the team right now. It was quite fun to watch, even though I know he won't be batting .600 for long.

It's funny the Yahoo article didn't even have hotlink for him and stats yet.

Given a chance the younger players are doing OK, gotta love seeing Giant team speed affecting someone, instead of the other way for a change.

It's been a problem for the past couple years—well, at least the former, not the latter so much. ;) But I think they only pulled off a sweep a few times last year, it was pretty bad.

Yeah. If there is something I'm learning something about this Baseball season, it's that while they won't make the playoffs, they might be a fun team to watch. The same goes with the Oakland A's as well. Watching these young guys play and get a chance everyday has made things a little more interesting in the short season. I'm not saying they're going to make the playoffs now, but I enjoy learning about these young players who might end up being somebody in the Majors in the future.

Those pullover powder blues are outstanding. The blue and white Jays hat is my all time favorite.

The thing that looks weird though is players wearing a 70s uni in 00s style. Unis are worn much looser today, and most players have their pant legs pulled down low instead of showing some stirrup. Kinda gives these things a pajama look that way.

Just got back from the Sox at the Indians tonight. I think I screamed my head off when Manny crushed that two-run homer in the 9th. The most entertaining part, though, was listening to the local Cleveland sports radio hosts going off the deep end on the drive back.

Here's a photo of Pap warming up before closing it out in his usual fashion.

Heard about it after the fact. Must have been awesome to see Manny do his thing again - especially to the Indians. It's fun to give other teams a complex about losing such games for a change.
