It's blocked behind a subscription only paywall, but according to the headline in The Denver Post, "Charlotte's Web", based out of Denver, CO has become the official CBD supplier to the MLB.

^ That's all we need, players getting the munchies in the middle of a game.

The Astros are the "plucky underdog" here as the 9th-highest payroll squad, with the other remaining teams all being top five in payroll.

Yikes. Both starting pitchers in the NLCS game were pulled in the first. First time that's happened in 90 years.

So the Rangers could afford to pay him more than the Giants could? I'm finding that difficult to wrap my head round...

I think it's more that Bochy wanted to take a few years off, recharge his batteries, and wait for the right job; when his former player said, "Hey, come be my team's manager," he felt he was ready. Happens a lot, really. Buck Showalter always takes a few years between gigs, for example. Tito Francona took a year off before going to Cleveland, same with Bob Melvin before he went to Oakland.

The only managers in recent memory I can recall who have retired and actually stayed away are Davey Johnson and Jim Leyland. Well, Bobby Cox, but he went and fucked around in the front office for a few years after he retired, and he's a wife-beating piece of shit so fuck him, anyway.

This nation owes the Astros a debt of gratitude for keeping the Yankees out of the World Series three times in six years. :p
