Angels hit 7 solo home runs in one game, still lose.

Are they allergic to RISP like the Cubs?

Well, you score 7 runs you figure to win most of the time.

Our pitching is shit. Our hitting is shit.

Oakland and San Francisco aren't playing on a Friday. That seems odd. They play each other for a two-game series starting tomorrow.

Rockies claim Dinelson Lamet off waivers. So that ends that saga.

Bobby Bonilla's infamous contract sold at an auction for $180,000. The winning bidder also receives 30-minute Zoom calls with Bonilla agent Dennis Gilbert, a signed baseball, a game-used bat from Bonilla's personal collection, a 1-of-1 Bobby Bonilla contract NFT, and a day with Bonilla in New York that includes breakfast, batting practice, a Mets game and dinner.

The Cubs have announced that they don't expect Jason Heyward to play again this season (he had a setback in rehabbing his knee), and he will be designated for assignment after the season.

He's always seemed like a really cool dude, and I hope he lands somewhere, but, my God, I am so glad I don't have to watch him hit slow rollers to second three times a game anymore.

Yep. By all accounts a great clubhouse guy, a great baseball mind and A++ defense when he was healthy.

But an automatic out a lot of times at the plate, especially in clutch situations. Do all the myriad of stats even look at "clutch" anymore, outside of maybe BA w/RISP?

Cubs picked up Franmil Reyes (27) off waivers from Cleveland. Another project guy I'd guess. He's capable of a lot of power, but hasn't been good recently.

Al Avila out as the Tigers' general manager.

Given that the team was expected to compete in the AL Central and instead completely shit the bed, I imagine AJ Hinch is dodging phone calls from the team office right now.

He'd been in the front office since 2002 and was a "logical" pick for a promotion after Dombrowski bailed.

The Field of Dreams game is tonight. Dubuque (where I live; the Field of Dreams is about 15 miles away) is very much a Cubs city, and you do not want to know what tickets for nosebleed seats are going for today.
