Missing 32" Enterprise finally found...

Star Wars is worse. In the first movie, Luke's father was killed by Vader thus giving him motivation for starting the Hero's Journey. In the second movie Vader *is* the father. In the third movie, the princess from another planet, formerly love interest, is his twin *sister*.

Still, we bought all that happily.

Speak for yourself. The part of "we" that I represent rolled his eyes so hard at, first, "I'm your father, Luke" and then "I'm your sister, Luke" that I swear I could see all the way back to my memories of exiting the birth canal.

In other words, it's never a good idea to project YOUR reactions onto other people.

Nope. Luke finds out that Darth Vader killed his father an he still wants to go back to the farm.

Luke's motivation to leave Tatooine is his aunt and uncle are murdered / he's running for his life. AND he wants to be a Jedi like his Dad.

I have problems with Daddy Vader buy Luke's motivation isn't it.

the person in possession of said model is probably consulting a lawyer. There’s a huge potential payday but also unknown legal ramifications. It’s not unlike artwork stolen by the nazis during ww2. (Note: I’m not a lawyer, nor do I play one on tv. If my legal understanding is simple, please forgive me)
That sounds oddly familiar.

I'm your father, Luke" and then "I'm your sister, Luke"
The first one I can accept, barely.

The second one was far, far worse of a retcon to the lore and made the galaxy far smaller than it needed to be.

Unfortunately, Lucas' personal life made him decide that wrapping up the films as a trilogy, rather than searching for Luke's sister in the next film, was the preferred course. And then we got Ewoks.

I'm very hopeful that this is indeed the 33" model. And I agree that it would be great to see it in the Smithsonian along with the other TOS models. I'd really hate for it to end up in yet another private collection like most of the TNG-era models.

Regardless of who owns it, I hope it gets a professional restoration (without the use of Pine Sol) and ends up on public display. Maybe the Smithsonian, but it would seem odd to me that both models were created and used in L.A. but put on display 3000 miles away. Isn't there some appropriate museum in the L.A. area?

The National Air & Space Museum has exhibits that have been in actual outer space. LA to DC isn't that far.

And the reason the Enterprise is in the museum is that it's not just an artifact of TV production, but an important cultural symbol of the Space Age. Star Trek inspired a generation or more of astronauts, physicists, engineers, etc. So it belongs in a museum about spaceflight and aviation. You know of any in LA?

I was just going to mention that one.

Exhibits include Mercury-Redstone 2 (craft that put the first ape in space), Gemini 11, the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project Command Module, Space Shuttle Endeavour, and replicas/prototypes of the Wright Glider, Viking Lander and a handful of significant planetary probes.

Why does the Smithsonian need TWO Enterprise models?
