Millenium-Horse Ripper-Very weird

I just watched a Millenium episode on Chiller. You know, that old show with Bishop from Aliens (I can't recall his real name right now). This weird guy is going around killing horses and then jacking off over it. The guy wants to move up to women and horses at the same time. So Frank wants to keep the guy from doing that. I immediately thought of Horse Raper from Krod Mandoon, or maybe his name was Horse Draper, something like that. The show is really weird and really dark with no moments of levity.

Edit: Frank is Lance Henrikson. I couldn't remember it for the life of me until I stopped thinking about it and started doing something else.

Not so fond of that particular episode, but love the series overall. It's true the series has so little levity, which is actually a nice contrast to most television. However, in season two there were, believe it or not, two comedy episodes.

I did enjoy the episode with the 4 demons sitting in the diner talking about what they've been up to. The depressed demon was pretty hilarious, but it took a while to get to the punch line.

That would be Season One which was unrelentingly dark and pretty unwatchable except for a few gems. S2 was much better!

I actually grew to like S1 a lot more the second time I watched it. It's not easy television, but it sure ain't meant to be! I prefer S2 as well, but then it's one of my favourite seasons of a TV show, ever.

Bah, season two turned the show into a comic book. Suddenly cars burst into huge fireballs when they crashed, gunshot wounds produced no blood, Frank and his wife hated each other, and everybody had Morgan and Wong's sense of humor.

If a third X-Files movie is about the 2012 "apocalypse," shouldn't they bring back Frank Black for that one?

Hell, I'd watch Frank Black if he came back in a shitty romantic comedy. Great character. He hasn't always been the best fit with The X-Files (see the season seven crossover episode), but it could work.

Season 1's better on reflection.

I enjoyed the whole Owls/Roosters arc of season 2.

Season 3, meh!

Season two divides opinion quite heavily, it's true. Some aspects of the Millennium Group mythology that developed in S2 were a little weird, but for the most part it was tremendously well-written all round. To be truthful, the quick disintegration of Frank and Catherine's relationship is one thing that does bother me.

S3 started off terribly, and I have some big problems with it overall (the whole idea of "experiments in evil" is just ludicrous beyond belief) but despite that, there were some great episodes that made it worthwhile. "Borrowed Time" may very well be the most perfect episode of Millennium.

The subtle "Legion" arc is probably the best thing about the show. An ambiguous evil force makes offers of protection to Frank time and again, and when he rejects the offer, Legion gives him a demonstation of its power, which escalates in scale each time. Legion is very rarely mentioned by name and fans debate as to which episodes actually count as part of the arc - and that's part of what makes it so good!

I thought that Legion was only actually mentioned once in the series--in the first season episode called...uh..."The Judge," I think.

You're probably right, and that's part of the reason fans debate it so much. Watch the scene between Frank and the Judge and then watch Frank's talk with the seedy lawyer in "Powers, Principalities, Thrones and Dominions".

Oh, I think there are definite connections to be made there. Especially when the Lucy Butler character shows up. It's just amusing that it's never mentioned again by name AFAIK).
