MeTV's SuperSci-Fi Saturday Night

I was referring to Goldfinger. I didn't say the plan was identical, but it involves contaminating currency to make yourself rich.

That's why I referred to it as overused. 1960's film and TV was littered with crime/spy "master plots" in the wake of Bond's movie success. Batman had a wealth of stories to adapt from the comics, but they fell back on the tired "master plan" crap.

It does not get better with next week's return of Shame.

Me's site now has Feb. 8 listed...no sign of the Hulk. If it's supposed to be coming that week (which is unconfirmed), then something in the current Saturday night line-up may be in danger.

I find it hard to believe they'd drop Batman with only two episodes left in its run. And as I said, if they were going to drop Wonder Woman, why skip the remaining third-season 2-parters and cycle back to the start of the first season, rather than just showing one of the 2-parters? Which leaves Superman and Star Trek in prime time and Lost in Space, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, and The Man from UNCLE in late night.

If they're making changes to their line-up, exactly where a show is in its run isn't likely to matter. They may even be losing whatever show that TIH is replacing.

?
Batman has more than two episodes left in its final season:
"The Great Escape" - Shame
"The Great Train Robbery" - Shame
"I'll Be a Mummy's Uncle" - King Tut
"The Joker's Flying Saucer" - obvious
"The Entrancing Dr. Cassandra" - again, obvious
..and the series finale, "Minerva, Mayhem and Millionaires"

I said some of the Saturday block needs a vacation, but if your theory is correct, that would be fine, too. Each show has been run in circles, and is not exciting to know that the same, tired schedule just goes on and on. TIH would be welcome in that block, as well as any other fantasy/sci-fi series ME-TV obtains. They should never think any of the current block is so loved / fixture of pop culture (perhaps with TOS being the exception) that it can run with no end in sight.

A while back, Me had a perfect block of Dragnet/Adam-12/Emergency! going on weekday afternoons. Eventually Dragnet and Adam-12 went to Cozi, and I think Dragnet may have switched hands again during Cozi's New Year line-up changes.

The new Super SciFi Saturday Night is:
Adventures of Superman (cut down from 2 episodes to 1)
Batman (cut down from 2 episode to 1)
The Incredible Hulk
Wonder Woman
Star Trek: Original (that's what they call it in the listing)
Svengoolie
Voyage To The Bottom of The Sea

well i don't like the new late night lineup. i'm gonna miss Hitchcock and Thriller being on every night.

^^ Both of those are great shows. I have them both on DVD. Worth getting, especially Thriller, which is reasonably priced for the whole series.

Looks like I called Superman and Batman being cut down to a half hour each. That was probably the best option. At least no shows are being lost.

Other than Hulk, I'm not really excited about the new shows. And it's a shame that Night Gallery, Naked City, and Route 66 are disappearing.

I know it's not part of the Saturday night or SFF line up, but I love that they're adding Diagnosis Murder. I used to watch that all the time as a kid. Although it does make me feel old when the classic TV networks add shows from when I was growing up.

I still think of Diagnosis: Murder as a "new" show. His original sitcom was a childhood show for me. :rommie:

So Christopher...any plans to do Incredible Hulk reviews?

Haven't decided. That was actually a show I was planning to rewatch on Netflix at some point, and I'm not sure it's worth watching the edited, sped-up, commercial-laden versions MeTV will show. I've considered watching one per week on Netflix in sync with MeTV's showings so I could review them here, but I don't know if I will.

I'd started a weekly rewatch a while back that got stalled early in Season 2. I could watch along with after that.

I wonder if they're playing the split-up versions of the pilot movies. That could be slow-going early on, spending four weeks to get through two episodes.

Since being syndicated in the 1980s, TIH's pilot movies (and "Married") have usually been split into 1-hour episodes, with "to be continued" added to part one's conclusion. Unless ME-TV is going to introduce TIH in any proper way, expect the split, edited pilot, which is terrible, as the 1977 pilot is one of the best stories of the series, and still one of the most mature Marvel adaptations to date.
