MeTV's SuperSci-Fi Saturday Night

^In general, they've varied their blocks quarterly and from year to year more than you're describing. None of those Sunday shows are regularly recurring in that particular slot from year to year, and they weren't displacing Westerns as you suggest.

That depends on which period of time you're referring to; some westerns were aired on Sundays, along with other, rotating genres. Yes, i know some of their blocks are quarterly, or if the interest holds like their "noir" block from a couple of years ago (Naked City, The Twilight Zone, Route 66, the B&W seasons of The Saint, etc.), or seasonal, like The Summer of ME. In 2014, I believe they temporarily ran Raymond Burr's signature series (Perry Mason & Ironside) back to back in the morning, however, it did not last long, and i'm sure if that was summer programming.

And it all depends on what programs they have access to and think people will watch. There are competitor retro channels.

Sure, there are competitor channels, but how many of the series I named in my earlier post are currently airing on other channels?

A couple years back they did have a Friday night slot dedicated to made-for-TV movies for a spell, which would have been perfect for something like those Marvel TV films. They aired the Wonder Woman pilots in that slot.

Did that include the Cathy Lee Crosby Wonder Woman TV movie?

No, they didn't air the CLC WW movie (at least not that I saw).

Until my affiliate's recent switchover to H&I, I'd been following Me's programming for nearly four years, and have seen all sorts of programming come and go on Sundays, and I can't remember when Sunday afternoon/evening was Western-themed. Their weekend programming blocks have always been more varied than that. It's the sitcoms that could use breaking up on their schedule now, not Westerns.

Did they give a date for the start of The Incredible Hulk in that promo, to verify the date that I found elsewhere?

One of the superhero series should be replaced; each has been run from start to finish over and over again, so they need a vacation.
I suppose it all depends on the ratings. Another option, if they didn't want to replace Trek, is to just air one episode of the half-hour shows, which would make room for Hulk.

I liked their movie night, at least in principle. They didn't air much that was good and it didn't last very long.

I had a tendency to forget to even check what would be on Friday nights while they were doing that. But in general, I like rotating programming where it's more likely I'll see something of interest once in a while that's not in the channel's regular line-up. Guess that's why they started Decades.

make room for Hulk
Sounds like a spin-off....

If they don't announce a date sooner, and it does begin Feb. 8, then we should be able to see on the site's schedule what weekday slot it'll occupy a week from tomorrow; and whether or not it will be on Saturday nights the following Saturday.

With their blocks--like the subject of this thread--they insist on keeping the same series on. Again, I think TOS is the jewel in the crown as the face of classic TV sci-fi, but the rest are wearing out their welcome. Do they believe the worst of the Allen series and Superman can go on and on? If it was not for a horror host show--Svengoolie--their Saturday block would be dreary.

Even their Over-Nightmares block (Rod Serling's Night Gallery, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour & Thriller) leaves Sci-Fi Saturday in the dust.

I was hoping they'd show some of the old made-for-TV movies of the day, like Cruise Into Terror or something. But they mostly showed the Perry Mason movies, I think.

Nice. :rommie:

I checked for the February schedule a while ago and it's not up. I don't know how far in advance they generally post them.

Ah, so I see. And it looks like Lori Saunders is back. Er, I mean Petticoat Junction is back.

Though "Green Acres" was at the Apex of Them All, "Petticoat Junction" was up there!

All Hail:
Eb, The Sage!
The Porcine God, Arnold,
Hanney of the Merchants!

I posted this over in The Classic/Retro TV Thread (shameless plug), but figured it might warrant some cross-promotion over here in Sci-Fi/Fantasy land: H&I will be running Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Xena: Warrior Princess starting Feb. 8.

Now you'll have to choose between your son's birthday and The Incredible Hulk.

Better yet: "Son, for your birthday I am going to introduce you to a classic of American culture...."
