I always assumed he was playing house with Marla for most of Season 6?

Every relationship we saw Chakotay BARELY survive was just training him harder to stop.

On camera Kathy and her XO just weren't into each other, which is why it is funny to suppose such wongitudity on them.

"wongitudity" he he, I like that word.

I think they were just friends. They were really strong platonic friends. They could have been more, but, if it was going to happen, it would have happened mid season 2.

My bad. When you said that women see their friends as brothers, I assumed that it meant they weren't sexually attracted to them. I figured that people aren't normally sexually attracted to their siblings. But I don't have one, so I wouldn't know. :vulcan:
Did you watch Voyager?

Janeway calls Chakotay "good friend" and year or two after "Resolutions" and all chances of romantic involvement is off the table at that point. So yes, too Janeway at that point Chakotay is more like a "brother" than sex partner.
According to you. There are other people in this forum who seem to think differently. Which must mean that didn't watch Voyager.

According to you, if someone calls a person "good friend" all chances of romantic involvement are off the table. According to you, this means that people are like siblings. According to you, Janeway thought about Chakotay as a brother halfway through the show. All of the above are just your opinions that people might agree or disagree with.

And some people disagree with yours.

Your point?

IMO, Chakotay showed interest in Janeway. Janeway seemed a bit curious at first, but set it aside.

After Janeway got her dear John letter--which was when something would have happened if it was going to happen--nothing happened. It seems that if she had been interested, she was no longer.

And after YOH, I saw nothing more to indicate any interest on Chakotay's part.

This is, of course, my opinion. Your mileage may vary and likely does.

as a man, I dont care how hot she is, i'm not sleeping with the boss. especially since it looked as if they were going to spend THE REST OF THEIR LIVES TOGETHER!

Um, my point is, I didn't condescendingly ask someone "Did you watch Voyager?" just because they disagree with me, as if my opinion is so obviously a fact and everybody else is clueless. :vulcan:

Which is why you're giving the  to me now?

"Did you watch Voyager" was part of a longer post that went on to describe his opinion.

JANEWAY: I think we need to define some parameters about us.
CHAKOTAY: I'm not sure I can define parameters. But I can tell you a story...
Then, he basically tells her that, when he's with her/helping her, his life has meaning. If that's not a declaration of love, I don't know what is. That's like saying, "You make me want to be a better man." Wait, that's what he said.

She smiles at him sweetly and goes to bed alone. I think that speaks to what she felt for him.

While I agree on what her response was, I disagree that Chakotay's story (and, granted, it's a face-palm moment for me) was indicative of love.

I think it was indicative of a crush. And perhaps some serious neurosis.

He says she gives his life meaning. Um, if you're lookign to have someone else give your life meaning, you need to stop reading the romance novels and join real life. (That's a general you there).

Basically, they turned Chakotay into a slobbering puppy dog.

Which is so totally unattractive.

Kathryn doesn't need a puppy dog who derives his life's meaning from someone else. She needs a man (or a woman, for that matter) whose life already has meaning. She's confident enough in herself to want an equal, not an adolescent.

Seems like it was also according to Kate Mulgrew & the writers too. So no, it's not just my opinion but stated fact within the show and supported by the actors and writers involved too.

I read a Star trek the next generation novel once, an old one, a really old one, and picard was thinking "My goodness what beautiful eyes Pulaski has, no stop it jean-luc don't get drawn into your days dreams about her again" because it was the writers conclusion that gates Mcfadden was gone and never coming back and if TNG stayed on the air long enough that Pulaski and Picard would hook up and perhaps get married.

This is by the way, the same bloke who killed Janeway. :)

Stylistic conventions are sometimes more overpowering than the body of the scripts dialogue, because in your heart you feel that there is a particular destiny for a character which you assume that every one involved in the process is working towards in so not to dissapoint your logic.

You can watch Voyager all you want and still undestand it completely differently from everyone else, and it's a matter of record that I usually do.

I see it as a form of love. However, I don't see it as a healthy form of love.

I actually agree with you here. Kathryn needs an equal, not a drooling school boy.

I think Chakotay was into the idea of a relationship.

However I don't think Janeway was really into it. My take on Janeway's feelings are that she felt if things had been different and if they had met under different circumstances something could have happened.

But things didn't happen that way, so she was more into just having a friendship.

I was thinking that if they stayed on that Planet that one of them, and I do mean Chakotay, will want a child. She might not bow to a romantic relationship, or even a recreational relationship but just because she wouldn't give Q a baby, that doesn't mean that she not might have carried one for her loyal and dutiful XO?

Well, then it's another thing where VOY writers failed badly. I'm going by what was seen on screen, not what anyone said in interviews. What's up with the flirting, and Chakotay's romantic speech, and subsequent hints, and "Did we ever..." "Let's say there are some lines we never crossed"? Why bring up that stuff? If you want a platonic friendship, learn how to write it, losers. ;) Don't confuse it with sexual tension that goes nowhere.

Yes, I agree with this completely.

^^Cool Avatar.

What's that from?

A movie she did called "Remo Williams". It was knock off of "Rambo", but with actual humor. You should look it up... on YouTube. Not worth the money to rent it/buy it unless you're like me and like to see Kate in uniform.

OMG!!!

I was just talking about that film with someone just last week!! Yes, I know it well. It also stars Joel Grey, who also guess starred on Voyager.

Joel Grey is a rather famous Broadway star. He was the original MC in Cabaret. He was Caylem in "Resistence". He did a great job, but the man is a wonderful actor.

I know how Kate wound up on Remo, but Joel always confused me. He could have done better!

Especially with that Fu-Manchu make up job they gave him.

I also remember him being of "Buffy" too.
He was the little demon guy w/ the tail that was a henchman for Glory and fought Spike on the tower in the season finale of s5.

..but yes, I'm very much aware of his career.
His daughter was Baby in "Dirty Dancin'" and Ferris Buller's sister.

Now I remember seeing Remo the Destroyer IN THE 80s on BETAMAX... How was it any different than any other 80s movie? More so it's only bad compared to movies these days, back then it was a bit of a star.

I remember thinking how modern the movie was because the Statue of liberty had all that Scaffolding up and down her figure when they were cleaning her that one time.

Girl hasn't shaved her underarms in 25 years.

Your liberty, you Americans, is practically a hippy.

The guy who played Remo was on In Plain Sight a few weeks back.

Joel was mervelous on Buffy.
