Mass Effect: ANDROMEDA

I'm having fun despite some minor glitches (best one was on Voeld when i parked the Nomad and called down the Outpost. Suddenly the Nomad was stuck in a building and couldn't get out ).

I have finished the vaults on Eos, Voeld and Havarl and started the mission on Kadara. Currently trying to romance Cora but Peebee is one agressive woman.. just because i talk to her sometimes and help her with her stuff doesn't mean i'm free game. She almost threw herself at me but i'm a one fictional game woman type of dude.. i don't virtually screw around ;)

Also switched from Assault Rifles to Snipers.. they are just much more powerful. It requires a more precise shooting game but it's usually not a problem because i drop Kett with 2 shots at the most which leaves me not that much exposed. For close work i still carry an Assault rifle and have a good melee weapon.

The whole Biotic Combo stuff just seems way too complicated to set up.. i chose some simple ones for my Soldier and don't bother with the combos and i'm doing just fine.

OK I caved and am getting this game on Thursday instead of waiting a few months like I usually would do. I play on PC so just wondering how big is the full install or is the PC version just a starter disk and then the game downloads the rest?

For some reason I am not so invested in the characters as I was in ME1 and 2.
Oh, and the difficulty of a fight and the reaction of your companions is sometimes unintentionally funny.
Kett appear, run into an Singularity, big biotic explosion and I hear a companion say "Man, that was harder than a vault"...

I've grown to like the characters a bit more after doing their loyalty missions. Cora I warmed up to more though I still think they missed a trick by not making her more of rival to Ryder. Some of it gets a little repetitive though, can Vetra stop talking about her sister occasionally please! I still can't stand Liam but at least you get to be mean to him on his loyalty mission!

Agree on the weird comments regarding the fights. Quite often I get a - we can't take much more of this when it hasn't felt like a hard fight at all.

Another oddity I got was I managed to miss the Architect and Fiend on Eos first time round and when I first fought an Architect on a later planet everyone knew what they were even though there was no story reason for them to. Later when I went and fought the one on Eos they all acted like they'd never seen one before! Same with the Fiend on Eos, at first I thought they must be talking about some new monster but no it was just another Fiend.

I wonder what impact having less vitality will have on the story in the future? I've already made a couple of decisions differently which should have a different outcome, but I don't remember making many big decisions in the game that were comparable with the other games?

There are some decisions which don't appear to have a consequence but presumably will affect things down the line - letting the Krogan colony keep the remnant core for example - and some which cause problems at the time, the Krogan scouts or Salarian Pathfinder, but yes I don't think they've sold them as well as the big decisions in Dragon Age or the original Mass Effect.

The thing that bugs me about the architect is that after you defeat your first one, your squadmates are like "Interface with it!" and I'm thinking, what? Why? How do we know this is a thing I should be doing? It's never explained/established prior to that. Maybe if all-knowing SAM suggested it, sure, but one of your squadmates saying it makes no sense.

I hadn't thought about that but yes that is odd. But then everyone seems to be better informed about things than they really should be in this game.

As soon as you learn anything (and sometimes before!) it seems to become common knowledge everywhere. More than the Reapers or Protheans ever did in the first two Mass Effect games.

It's also slightly worrying just how many anti social people they managed to bring along - the Milky Way crime gangs are worryingly well resourced!

I do tend to think the terraforming aspect of the game is its weak point. It is terribly repetitive.

I got the download version and it was about 50 gig. I'm not sure if there is a full pc disk version of it yet (or going off some of the forums, even a partial disk version)?

There must be because I've seen it. It's in a DVD case so I'm thinking there is one disk in the case to start things off and the rest just downloads after installing Origin.

On Amazon UK when it came to releasing it, it seems to be an emailed origin code or code in a box only. I'd ordered it thinking there would disks (comments/questions on Amazon indicated otherwise later on.)
Mine came in a dvd case (worked out rather cheaper than going direct to Origin) and basically just had the code. I'd have preferred the disks, but am getting more used to just Steaming/Origining/GOGing games nowadays:(

For me it's both repetitive and yet oddly satisfying.
Making a world "livable" feels like a big success, so for me they succeeded im making it a motivating part of the game to "get all the planets done".
What I did not like is the capping of the Nexus level. That takes away the reason to actually finish a lot of the additional quests on the planets.

Hey aren't you dead? :D

I too don't have a problem with the Vault missions but they are all the same.. solve a bunch of Sudoku puzzles, enter the main vault and dispose of a couple of Remnant bots to reach the center and flip a switch then haul ass before the cloud gets you.. rinse and repeat.

So far i've done the vaults in Eos, Voeld and Havarl and it was always the same.. could have used a bit of variety.

Last night i finished part of the mission on Kadara and returned to the Tempest when all hell opened up mission wise.. teammates were dropping missions left and right, the main mission opened up even more and there were clues to missing arks everywhere. I saved the game and called it a day

The glitchy graphic weirdness is annoying the hell out of me. I don't think I've played a game that has such glitchy animations before. Really, really poor from Bioware.

Apropos of nothing, the Extra Credits folks just put out this video which may shed some light on what's going on with MEA's cutscene character animations.

There's also a bunch of mini-puzzles to solve to get some extra goodies and the challenge of being able to grab a particular container of stuff before the purification wave gets you. It's basically old school 'Tomb Raider' with robots.

I've noticed there's some NPC's out there sporting hairstyles not available to the player. I'm hoping once they get around to improving the character creator that they add these. I'd love to be able to use this ponytail on Ryder.

OK Got ME A today and disappointment. It's just a fucking empty DVD case. What load of shit? I miss my physical disks. :(

Oh well 5 billion hours download incoming .......

For me this points to one of the other questionable aspects in the game: loot.
You can get some nice stuff from some of the harder to reach chests, but its all inferior to the crafted versions.
So for me, getting an ultra rare gun from the vault just meant you had something to deconstruct for some Eezo.
And with strike missions and resources generated from Nexus levels, research and crafting are pretty easy.

Has anyone redeemed the game code but the game is not showing up in your library?

Purchased this game today and now the game isn't showing up in my origin client ..... $69 down the toilet.
