Mass Effect 2

Not gonna lie, my fem-Shep is a green eyed, red haired hotty. My male-shep is, well, pretty gross looking.
Red hair and green eyes? Snap! For maleShep I just used the boring vanilla potato head.
Anyway, I fighured out how to screen cap: -
It's hard for me to be objective about the design since after completing both games with her, this to me is just what Commander Shepard looks like. It actually looks weird to me when I watch clips and hear Hale's voice come out of a different face. Just a sign at how personalized these games really are I suppose.
If I recall though, when I first bought ME1 in the steam xmas sale I think I based her somewhat on my mental image of what Honor Harrington might look like (HH fans may disagree of course.) More handsome than pretty and with a mixed heritage, by modern standards and ridiculously high cheek bones. :D

Finding a flattering pose that shows off the face is a bit tricky as mostly she stares off into space a little crosseyed and lifeless. In ME I just so happened to have a save right around Saren's defeat, so it was easy to get those two "iconic" shots.
To get the same thing for ME2 would mean beating the boss again, and I don't have time, so here's a boring profile shot taken from a random save.

I have to say, I miss her old ME1 eyebrow scar. ;)

The inventory is a bit realistic because you are no longer hauling 500 different rifles at the same time ... but, the inventory as such no longer exists ... which I think takes something out of the game and the RPG aspect as a whole.
Perhaps it's just because I'm not an old school D&D type RPG fan, but the lack of 50,000 almost identical pieces of equipment to choose from doesn't make for an interesting ROLE playing experience. Don't get me wrong, I loved the original Fallout games and had massive stashes of gear in every settlement, but for RPGs I much prefer a game that focuses more on the character that you create than what kind of stuff he or she has.

I don't like the fact Bioware never put in the option for a gay romance into this game.
Asari not withstanding (because of their obvious feminine features and whatnot).
They managed to pull it off with Jade Empire and Dragon Age: Origins.
In ME though ...
I heard that the guy they based Iconic Shepard's face said he wasn't cool with his face being used in gay romance scenes, so they nixed them. Default FemShep isn't based on anyone as far as I know, but I guess they felt it was unfair for FemShep to get lesbian romances while MaleShep didn't get any gay romances.

I'm on my 2nd playthrough (this time using an edited save file to carry over my decisions from the first game that I played on a different format).
On my first playthrough, on horizon I was able to save a bunch of people. The 2nd time though there was only a couple of frozen people, and there's even a bit of NPC audio from Garrus lamenting on not being able to save more. I can't figure out what the change was between the two playthroughs since I went to horizon as soon as the mission was available in both games. I can't figure out what decision in the first game ended up costing lives in that mission.

A plausible theory, but something is amiss.
Why would Bioware and the actor in question make the scenes for ME1 (record the voices for both male Shep and Alenko and did the initial kissing animation sequence) in the first place and then just drop them?
If it was the case the guy didn't want his face associated with gay kissing, why was the content with exactly that made in the first place?
The content in question is accessible via a mod, the only problem is that when the naked animation takes place, male shepard turns into a woman.

I suppose it's possible the actor didn't know about the naked sex animation scene that follows up until it was 'too late', but if your theory is accurate, why was any of the initial content (the kissing) made in the first place or kept?

The amount of confilicting info is large for this particular aspect, and the officials are not exactly forthcoming.

They probably did that on purpose, making you choose which upgrades to prioritize.
Doubt it. Running out of credits means running out of fuel. Plus the player has no way of knowing what upgrades they'll find on a mission and how many credits they'll earn during the game.

Fuel and probes are so cheap that I don't think it's possible to be a in situation where you can't afford them. Not saying that it can't happen, but it seems to be very difficult to buy stuff in a way that leaves you with 0 credits.

Probably the only thing in the game without an economy are the mined resources, which you can get more of than you really need with persistence.

In a way, with this half measure, you almost wish they just gave up and went all the way into the realm of the shooter.

Element ZERO is RARE.
I've gone 20 planets with out finding any at all.

Focus your attention on planets that register as Rich upon the initial sensor scan.
Those are the ones that have a higher probability of holding Element Zero.

Element Zero is only found on planets that at some time have been inhabited, and is usually located around the equator. :)

I think the game calls them "post-garden worlds", the implication being they're worlds that once had advanced civilisations but were wiped out by the Reapers, hence the large deposits of eezo.

In the same star cluster (but not same system) where you do Tali's loyalty mission there's a system that has three planetoids hidden in the asteroid belt all incredibly rich with Element Zero. They can pretty much supply all of it that you will ever need.

Don't know if this is the same if you import your ME1 character, but if you port your completed game ME2 character back to the beginning of the game you get a bonus of 50,000 of each material to start with.

That should also pretty much see you through the game. :)

Yes, there's a resource and credit bonus for ME1 imports too. How much of what varies depending on the character, I think.

After you beat the game, all subsequent playthroughs get the 25% XP bonus and starting resources.

It's not much, but at least you don't have to worry about EEZO anymroe.

honestly i never really found that I needed the element zero too often. As rare as it is, there aren't too many recipes that call for it

I'm actually tempted to do a play-through without doing a single loyalty mission or upgrade and see just how messy things can possibly unfold.

This is exactly how I plan on doing my next playthrough. :D

Finished my first one tonight as a male renegade, sticking with Cerberus and letting them have the collector ship. I was REALLY nervous about those last battles, thinking one wrong move would kill a squad member or two (and I'm not the type to reset just because I fucked up). Garrus and Mordin wound up being the two I took into the last battle. I didn't get to the Normandy crew quick enough, only in time to see Yeoman Chambers get red misted (too bad, as I only found out a few days ago that you can sort of sex her up). Wound up hooking up with Tali (and Jack), and was really disappointed they didn't even show any inkling of WTF was under the damn helmet.

I can sleep soundly tonight knowing my male renegade Shepard completely fucked up the balance of his universe.

Exactly the same as my first play through.

Think they're saving the mask unreveal for ME3.

Honestly I don't really wanna know what Tali looks like. Besides, even with the mask she's still cute. ;)
