Nothing has changed my mind that [regardless of USA politics, remember many of us are not white and not American], that this film has to finish with a tease or similar of Steve Rogers becoming Captain America again simply to sell tickets to the next film and make the budget make sense.

Thanks to the internet most of this stuff will be spoiled so I am not sure how much of tease they have to do within the movie. The internet is basically a 24/7 promotion vehicle for these kinds of movies. I think what they got to let people know, because people have caught onto this, will be that this isn't a bait and switch. People show up expecting Steve Rogers as Captain America only to have him being in a glorified cameo.

Also for all the talk about Rogers return's impact on Sam Wilson, people are not talking about one thing I think people really want to see and that is Evans and Downey Jr having lots of scenes together. People love Rogers friendship with Stark. Because Downey Jr is Doom and Rogers is in a different place in his life the dynamic clearly will be different but people still want to see those actors and the chemistry they have with each other having lots of scenes together.

That is a big reason Why I think Rogers coming back and taking over the head of the Avengers isn't what they are going to do. I think they will have Evans/Cap, dealing with Doom and his team in some fashion for most of the movie.

Rogers is killed in the first act in a "he ain't coming back from that" way.;)
DOOM: "Well, that's sorted."

Not just the first act. The first scene. What they don't show you in the trailer is Doom walks into that room 5 minutes later and kills Rogers and steals the baby. Then the Avengers theme music starts and the opening credits for the movie rolls. I am sure everyone on the internet would love this. :)

My impression is the haters have been sexist, but not really racist regarding Phase 5 onward. There has been a ton of pushback on new female superheroes - including women of color. But Sam hasn't gotten a lot of pushback (discounting the flaws of the last movie). The chud brigade didn't much mind Shang-Chi or Moon Knight, either.

Basically, misogyny seems to be what animates them.

Jut thought more on the scene. After killing Rogers and stealing his baby he then walks out. Hands the baby off to one of his goons. Then get's on Rogers bike and takes off. Wasn't enough to just kill Rogers and take his baby. He also had to steal his cool ride.

He also burns the house down.

Misogyny and racism doesn't mean people reject female or black characters. Lots of sexiest for example love Ripley and Sarah Connor. People often find exceptions to the rules when it comes to hating certain kinds of people. Especially when it comes to fictional characters, musicians etc. I think the bigger issue has been the broader more political landscape happening in the world ever since Trump got elected. Politics and Culture are more or less now the same thing so that political fights trickle down from everything to movies to fast food restaurants to even blue jeans commercials.

This has also been happening at a time when Hollywood h as been embracing Deconstruction stories. Trying to find new ways of exploring what it means to be a hero or man and so forth. Lots of people though like the old traditional tropes. Even the ones that were promoted as liberal. Because that to has been in conflict. What it means to be a liberal has changed. I think it's safe to say Boomers and Gen Xers have some different idea on what it means to be liberal than lots of young people and of course that to creates conflict and division.

What the MCU is going to have to do is find a bridge in it's storytelling that appeals to both sides if they want to keep making mainstream hits. That is because the other alternative is to basically just cater to one side and be happy to make movies that still rake in money, but not to the level of what they use to. Which means they also have to lower to cost it takes to make movies so it's clear to see why they love AI. Make a 30 million dollar movie look like they spent 100 million on it. I assume that would be lots of studios dream scenario.

Let use our mentality and come back to reality- Chris Evans will likely have agreed both a ton of money plus likely for Disney to support a project he was interested in, same for Hemsworth (out of contract right?).

They might not appear much in the first once but Disney will got both their monies worth but also have people say "you have to see this". They are not paying big bags for cameos.

This is about Disney shareholders above all else.

I think part of what you're missing here is there's a much, much larger audience for content attacking women than content attacking people of color. There are lots of young men (of all races) who have resentments towards women (often due to a lack of luck in dating) which can be exploited by bad actors and/or grifters out for clicks. In contrast, the racial resentment audience is smaller, and more importantly, skews older and isn't as likely to use YouTube and the like.
