Except for the rules laid out perfectly clear by Banner in the movie itself. The action of simply going into the past to meet up with Peggy would have created an alternate timeline. It doesn't matter whether or not he changes anything. The simple fact that he's there creates the alternate timeline.
No it doesn't. When the Ancient One shows banner the timeline demonstration, the timeline isn't split. It only splits after she pulls an infinity stone.
Then after returning it, that blackened timeline doesn't turn golden, it disappears completely. Only messing with the stones can split a timeline artificially.
No, it's really not. There is absolutely nothing in any of the movies that definitively says it was Steve."It was Steve Rogers All Along" is what ended up onscreen, as was intended by Markus and McFeeley, the Russo Brothers' differing interpretation notwithstanding.
Did we know she was coming back? I don't remember seeing her name in the cast reveal video, but the reporter there was treating as a known fact she was in Doomsday.Oops, someone's going to get a talking to.

Wouldn't Bruce have already split off a new timeline the moment he arrived in the past?
So are we saying our Steve basically replaced spilt universe Steve? So Basically it is like Back to the Future were Marty is living the life of another Marty who grew up with successful parents. Spilt universe Steve then I guess just dies or fades away or something so our Steve can take his place?
Giving her power set and the nature of the story, her involvement seems almost a given.Yeah, I don't see it being a huge deal. I'm just curious how the reporter found out, since she was the one who brought it up.
I'm glad she's coming back, I liked her a lot in Multiverse of Madness. Now I'm hoping Kate Bishop, and Kamala Khan will be back so we can get more set up for Champions/Young Avengers.
The staying out of the limelight is the hard thing to buy into. Steve couldn't just sit back and watch injustice and people dying and do nothing, IMO.

So there's no reason for a time traveler to "keep a low profile" to avoid changing anything. He can't change anything. Either he was in the original past all along and his actions were a natural part of it, or he's in a parallel timeline and his actions can't affect the original one. Either way, there's no reason to inhibit his actions. So since there was no evidence of his actions in the past of the original timeline, he must have been in an alternate one. That's the only interpretation that's compatible with Endgame's time travel logic.
