I remember they used to do the same thing with Stallone, and Prince Charles for that matter.

Many years ago, when Stallone was in Seattle filming 'Assasins', my Mom and Dad happened to be having dinner in a restaurant when Stallone and his bodyguards walked in.

Mom and Dad both said that even with lifts in his shoes, he's shorter than his official height of 5'10", by a couple of inches.

When I walk "Back to the Future" these days I can't help but always notice all the camera tricks and angles they use to hide the size difference between Fox and Lloyd.

what are you talking about? There's no attempt to hide the fact that Marty is half a head shorter than Doc in the movie.

Not in general, no. But as with most movies and TV shows, they use camera angles and actor positioning to subtly minimize that in many two-shots.

Nothing's accidental.

"But Doc's crouching a little in the second shot."

Yes, because the director wants them framed together roughly at eye-level.

Getting ahead of the inevitable cellphone videos of outdoor filming.

I saw someone remark recently that the reason superhero costumes onscreen have become these elaborate textured body-armor things is because a simple tight bodysuit looks bad onscreen. I think we can now call that disproven. The new Spidey suit is shinier than it needs to be, but otherwise it looks incredibly authentic.

Also. Someone took a photo of the production schedule

Spidey's Source: "Looking closely at the Production Schedule of #SpiderManBrandNewDay

- Spider-Man vs Scorpion Montage scenes will be shot in August.
- There will be a fight involving DODC guards.
- There will be a PRISON FIGHT filmed in October"

-The pink post it notes say “Spider-Man take on the hulk”

It's a common technique that directors have employed in film since the beginnings of it.

They used it quite often with Stewart and Sirtis during TNG. Getting a tight two-shot with either of them and Frakes sometimes required some help.

"I need an apple/half apple here' - supposedly, wooden apple boxes had been used for the purpose at one time. There were usually boxes of various heights on hand, to be used for different actors or shots.

Supposedly, the director of Stolen Holiday had a long shallow ramp constructed so that Claude Rains could enter a room and cross to stand face-to-face with Kay Francis.

Nowadays they're often called "Cruise boxes." But not in front of the actor. Or so i've heard. :shifty:

I know. I still dislike it.

Go right ahead. But it has nothing to do with the state of society or how it "should be," and little to do with Tom Cruise's vanity. It's about how directors want to set up shots, for a variety of reasons.

I'd rather they didn't. That is just Cruise's vanity and many studios not wanting the male lead to look as tall or shorter as the female lead and supporting cast. It's silly and should have no more place in a society where everyone should be accepted for who they are.

I've got several things on my mind right now pertaining to the MCU:
1. It's baffling to me that even 6 years after the fact, there are still people who refuse to accept or believe the Canonical fact that Peggy Carter's husband on the Sacred Timeline was "Steve Rogers All Along".

2. I surprisingly didn't outright hate the first 3 episodes of WandaVision despite not being a fan of Sitcoms.

3. I really liked seeing Darcy Lewis pop up in WandaVision Episode 4, and got a kick out of the retroactive revelation that she made a cameo appearance at the end of WandaVision Episode 1.

4. Likewise, it was fun to see Emma Caulfield pop up in something that wasn't related to Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

5. I still don't get why some people weren't killed in the Blip whilst others were.

The 'blip' was the Hulk snap that returned everyone to life. Hypothetically, someone could've died there (rematerializing in the middle of a road, etc), but the story's never gonna do something that pointlessly depressing and the producers have said the snap had the power to ensure that didn't happen.

The 'snap' which I assume you're actually talking about (from Infinity War) killed half of all life at random because that was Thanos' goal - to ensure the future of life by reducing the population 'fairly'. That it was random was the whole point, so there's every reason why some casts should logically be hit hard (the Ant-man films) while others are barely touched (Shang-Chi, Daredevil). That's just how randomness works.
