One day Disney will get a handle on toy leaks spoiling their movies...

...but not today.

I honestly don’t recall star wars having as many issues with toy leaks that marvel has since Disney bought LucasFilm.

I know with Mandalorian they purposely kept toy companies in the dark to prevent Grogu from leaking.

And the result was a lack of Grogu toys come Christmastime.

Apples and oranges. "Baby Yoda" was well worth keeping under wraps. The reveal was worth it in every way, as both Favreau and Filoni realized. While before the show premiered, "The Mandalorian" was the thing trending, after the show premiered "Baby Yoda" was the thing trending. He became a worldwide sensation. There never would have been that kind of a reaction if "Baby Yoda" had leaked beforehand.

Whereas including Luke's and Anakin's lightsaber with the first Rey 6" figure wouldn't have busted the world into pieces nor revealed anything other than at some point in TFA Rey finds or is given the lightsaber Luke lost in ESB. While I can sort of see why they kept that a secret since, hey, a weapon from both the OT and Prequels nobody's seen in years the secrecy required a running change in the first Black Series Rey figure so they could include the lightsaber in later releases inside the same packaging, adding a slot in the tray for the weapon. Thus making collectors have to buy the "new" Rey just to get the lightsaber.

It was a bit much.

Hilariously, Grogu's name was posted on the Star Wars Leaks subreddit several months before Season 2 aired, but it was literally a "my best friend's father works on the show and told him this" thing, so almost no one believed it.

Shocking to whom? I expected Iger to reassert control the way the transition was framed.

I feel uncertain at the idea of Iger returning. Some of his actions, including the 20th Century FOX acquisition, had a negative impact on the studio. I mean . . . good riddance to Chapek. But I don't know if bringing back Iger is a good idea.

I was glad to buy both

I did as well. But the Disney logic baffled and annoyed a lot of collectors at the time considering that her 5-POA figure in Wave 2 of the TFA line actually came with the lightsaber and at a time when the veil of secrecy was still officially in place.

You could actually tell from the figure it was the same saber?

It's literally the Anakin and Luke lightsaber from Episodes III, IV and V and was packaged with that one, not to mention shown ignited on the cardback art. And the reveal of the figure angered Disney and Lucasfilm because they didn't yet want to show the weapon.
