I thought that kind of stuff usually had a specific end date?
It's a common enough deal - they have to release a movie every few years (I can't remember how many) and the rights revert to Marvel if they don't.

I'm pretty sure Roger Corman's FF and the Wheel Of Time 30 minute TV show were both made to retain rights in that way.

I couldn't imagine Holland doing another trilogy. Maybe a sequel and popping up in other movies. I could see him becoming the Tony Stark of this era of Marvel movies and maybe passing on the mantle to another hero at the end of secret wars.

I think the landscape of today is different in Hollywood and worrying about being branded as a specific character. But yea another 'trilogy' is probably pushing it, but I think another solo film could happen and then some type of transition/hand-off to maybe a Miles Morales Spider-man. The bringing back of the past Peter Parkers will be a nice type of send-off for the character and chance to get a very different take with a different Spider-man.

I believe when Holland's involvement with the MCU was up in the air he said he had 3 more appearances contracted

Spider-man 3

Something big like another Avengers movie

I really want to see the Peter Parker / Johnny Storm bromance on screen. He should really be a supporting player in the Fantastic Four movies as he is always had a close connection to the team, dating back to the first issue of his own book..

"The Devil All the Time" shows he clearly doesn't have to worry about THAT.

but he'll face his first big flop with "Chaos Walking"

He'll survive the failure though

We've had no indication of Hulkling, except for the fact that we met his mother in Captain Marvel. If Annette Benning's Mar-vell gave birth to a half Skrull son, that would go a long way towards explaining why she was helping them out in the movie.

Honestly, with how the Skrull are, a MCU Hulkling could still be the son of a Skrull princess and Mar-Vell, although I don't know if Marvel wants to go there (they could just switch Hulklings Dad to Skrull royalty or something similar). Thinking about it, I do want to see Hulkling in the MCU, if for no other reason then to flesh out the history of the MCU Mar-Vell a bit.

I don't believe for a second that Holland is having second thoughts about or is at all over playing Spider-man. He seems to be one of the biggest spidey fanboys there is and I wonder a least a bit if he would even be able to say no even if it really was hurting his career (which it definitely is not).

In addition to that, it's always seemed to me that the very fact of casting Spidey so young was a clear indication that they would like this version of the character to stick around for as long as possible, not just one trilogy and some side appearances. In my opinion, the only reason a second trilogy was ever in doubt was because of the fragility of the Marvel/Sony partnership.

And most importantly, really, you can take it as pretty much guaranteed that if the Marvel/Sony partnership is officially renewed that pretty much automatically means more solo Spidey movies because Sony has no reason to be in this partnership without getting their regular solo movies that make them tons of money. Spider-man appearing in Thor or Avengers doesn't make the beaucoup bucks for Sony.

Realistically, if the partnership lasts long-term (big if, obviously) and Holland's outlook doesn't change (people can change their minds at any time - but plenty of them don't in practice) I think that not only is a second trilogy guaranteed but that a third trilogy is not at all out of the question.

I don't know if it'll be another trilogy, but I can definitely see Tom Holland sticking around as Spider-Man for a while.

I'm expecting Spider-Man, and Dr. Strange to be the two new core characters for the MCU. Basically playing the same role that Iron Man, and Captain America did for the first three phases. Originally I had Black Panther in there too, but... well.... :weep:

I'd hope that Captain Marvel would be one of the anchors for the next phase. No reason it has to be all guys.

She is supposed to be the new phase of Marvel. They've basically outright said it in the past.

-First MCU female to get their own movie
-Two scenes in "Endgame" that tried to sell her as the new and most powerful hero.
-Tony Stark called her "new blood"

Look at the big commotion they made when Bri was cast
