Hm, not even seeing a mention of Ant-Man... not that he needs another movie, but I'd be happy for him to get one. However, with the 2021 movies announced, and the 2022 slate full of potentials, Scott and Co. may end up enjoying a quiet retirement.

Hard to believe it'll be a whole ten months until the next MCU film! That's the longest gap since the 10 months between Ant-Man and Civil War, and we at least had 22-episode seasons of AoS to keep us going back then.

Well, as already pointed out in this thread, Ali isn't the first to do double duty between the shows and the films (Alfre Woodard stands out particularly), albeit he is the first to play a major character for both.

Not that it's a big deal. The two have been essentially separate since the beginning and I think that's fine. I only ever bumped on the lack of cohesion with Agents of SHIELD (specifically when SHEILD was tracking enhanced individuals).

Yeah, I'm a little disappointed there's no announcement there but they have a lot on the slate right now, so we might just have to wait a little longer. I know they have story ideas, particularly detailing Janet's experiences in the quantum realm.

On the other hand, I think it's good to have a breather and not let fatigue set in. Besides, once ball gets rolling again, we'll be getting a lot of films and shows!

Casting is not continuity. There are plenty of fictional universes in which one actor has played two or more roles -- just look at Star Trek with Majel Barrett, Diana Muldaur, Suzie Plakson, Vaughn Armstrong, Jeffrey Combs (who once played two of his recurring characters in the same DS9 episode), etc. Or Doctor Who, in which three actors (Colin Baker, Peter Capaldi, and David Bradley) were cast as the Doctor after having previously played different characters, and ditto for several companions or regular allies (including Jean Marsh, Nicholas Courtney, John Levene, Lalla Ward, Freema Agyeman, and Karen Gillan).
 
I do love some of the announced titles. In this day and age, only Marvel Studios could get away with old-school titles like Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. They certainly buck the modern trend of reducing feature film titles to single words (e.g. Logan) or leaving out series titles altogether (e.g. Man of Steel or Dark Phoenix).

You say that like they didn't make their final announcement a movie that's just called 'Blade'! Only the sequels get to have the crazy titles. ;)
 
It's not like Ali was coming back to Luke Cage or whatever and we've seen multiple actors jump comic universes and perhaps even intra-universe though I can't actually think of a case off-hand. Not being familiar with the comics I do picture Wesley Snipes when I think of Blade but he's closer than say Sticky Fingaz (God, that sounds stupid...) in Blade the Series. I'm curious to see if he'll do one of those famous Marvel workout transformations but he stole the show on Cage.
 
The casting of the movies announced is phenomenal, absolutely top class. As a fan of asian cinema I'm delighted to see some of it's best talent added to these marvel movies.

Most of the movies announced I knew were coming from what was long rumored, Blade is the only real surprising one. Is Blade going to be a movie? or TV show?

Which was announced quite some time ago. Glad to see WB helped them come up with some cool titles though :bolian:

I remember not being too fond of that story when it came out, though I wouldn't mind reading it again. Agree that Simonson is best Thor writer since Lee / Kirby, though initially it took me a few issues to "get" his art style. No one except Kirby does techno-mythology better. I'm loving his Ragnarok series.

Guardians 3, Black Panther 2, Captain Marvel 2, Blade, and Fantastic Four will probably all be in 2022-23, since I think the announced titles only covered 2020-21. I have to imagine they're going to get Spider-Man 3 in there somewhere too, especially if they still intend on Peter and MJ and the gang still being in high school in that movie. I was expecting Sony to push for it to happen in 2021.

I heard a rumor that because Marvel's plate is so full at this point, an Ant-Man 3 might not happen.
 
Apparently, Mahershala Ali approached Feige about playing Blade instead of the other way around which makes it even better if you ask me. Sometimes it backfires but usually when the actors are passionate about the part it works out well.
 
Definitely did not expect to hear announcements for Blade and Fantastic Four, but I am very happy that we did.

I'm thinking it's probably getting to play Jane Thorster that's got her coming back. I think I even read a while back that she had said she would be willing to come back if she got the play the female Thor, so I'm not sure if this was already in the works then, or if things just happened to work out that way.
 
I don't think money was an issue with Natalie; Marvel burned their bridges with her after The Dark World due to the way that Patty Jenkins was treated, so whatever they did to get her to come back has to be related, IMO, to that fallout moreso than just tossing money at her.

Getting a chance to play Lady Thor might also have figured into her returning, but I don't think it - or money - was the "deciding factor", as it were.

Without an obvious Avengers team/mission to build to yet, who besides Feige knows how long Phase 4 will last, and what will mark its end? We may not have met The Avengers' big bad until the fourth movie of Phase 1, but the promise of an Avengers team was there from the start...

Another thing that just occurred to me is what we're not seeing: any obvious major crossover appearances, a la Iron Man in Homecoming, Hulk in Ragnarok, and everyone in Civil War. Granted, there's still plenty of time for such reveals, and maybe Shang-Chi will heavily feature Blade, and Multiverse of Madness Ant-Man, but for now, it seems as though many of these flicks will mostly stay in their own lanes, as it were.

Also, I guess any eventual GDT At the Mountains of Madness is now even less likely, if general audiences would see the very title as a "been there, done that"?! :rommie:
