What grade would you give the Marvel Cinematic Universe? (Ever-Changing Question)

I have to wonder if the plan to do a Captain Marvel movie isn't partly motivated by DC/WB announcing a Shazam movie? I have no clue what the exact legal details would be, but maybe, as with Marvel's motivation for creating a character with that name in the comics, they feel the need to assert their copyright onscreen as well.
Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel origins involve the Kree, so they couldn't introduce her until they and the more cosmic side of the MCU emerged.

Since Spider-Man won't be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Not entirely certain about that...

is it safe to say that Black Panther will fill in for him for Civil War?
No. Like the Extremis-inspired IM3, it'll be an original story inspired by elements from the comics series, not a fit-peg-in-hole job.

In a similar way to Days Of Future Past, The Winter Soldier and pretty much all comic adaptations, only having SOME connection to the source material.

I seem to recall Rhodes being introduced a whole movie before he stepped into a Stark suit...

James Rhodes was Tony's friend before he became War Machine, so his not donning any armor in the first movie is consistent.

Who cares about Aquaman or Cyborg now?
I didn't care about them last week, so nothing's changed for me.

[pedantic]Trademark, not copyright.[/pedantic]

And Carol Danvers is an Air Force officer before she becomes a superhero, right? I don't know if you've noticed, but there are several military characters in the MCU so far...

See? I told you I had no clue what the exact legal details would be! :p

I'm expecting them to make Rhodey and Carol friends with each other from the Air Force.

Do we have a shot of Rhodey in his blues?
He's worn his blues in all three Iron Man movies so far.

It looks like he was a lieutenant colonel in the first two movies and was promoted to full colonel sometime between Iron Man 2 and Iron Man 3.

Yes, it's entirely possible we meet Captain Carol Danvers in Infinity War 1. Something cosmic is going down, military selects Danvers to act as their liaison with the Avenger, then super power granting accident happens. Danvers wakes up in her own movie and becomes Captain Marvel

I think Danvers could appear as early as GotG2 all things considered if Black Panther is going to pop up in Civil War.

I was thinking: After Avengers Infinity War Part 2... where the fuck does Marvel go then? Part of me thinks: just close up shop. Drop the mic, close up shop, because you won.

But, of course, that won't happen. What the hell is Phase 4? What do you lead to that's bigger than Infinity War?

And, poor, poor WB. As a comics reader, I'm a DC, but... man, I just don't care about their big reveal. It could be because the first movie out of their universe was Man of Steel--something I thought was awful. Their universe doesn't excitement. It fills me with dread.

Poor poor Warner Brothers.

Secret Wars? World War Hulk? Secret Invasion? There's places yet to go and many characters yet to be portrayed. Also, when in doubt, universe wide reboot! ;)

Realistically though by then I imagine comic book movies might have fallen out of vogue...but then a few years ago I would have said they should have probably already happened by now. So who knows?

World War Hulk would be sweet but I hope they save Secret Wars for a Fox/Sony/Universal crossover some years down the line.

Speaking of GotG2, you guys think there will be a chance we see Richard Ryder or Adam Warlock making an appearance?

Adam Warlock? Safe bet he will be, given his cocoon's cameo in GotG and probable involvement in anything with "Infinity" in the title.;)

Richard Ryder? As much as I'd love for him to show up, Marvel (both comics and other media) seems pretty enamored with the Sam Alexander version of Nova presently, so chances of the old Human Rocket showing up are slim to none. The Sam Alexander character is a safe bet to appear at some point.

i imagine we will see Adam Warlock in Guardians 2. i think Marvel and Jim Starlin have plans for the character for the next couple years.
