Relative to other MCU movies, yes, it was. Being absolutist about genre labels makes no sense. Genres are not walled enclaves, they're ingredients in a recipe.

It's entirely possible to tell a grounded story about a fantasy character, because there's more than one level to a good story.

I know I've clashed with you in the past about some things, but here we are firmly on common ground. People these days want to push their shows, movies or music into one specific little box and feel the urge to quantify everything. And, a movie doesn't have to be JUST one thing. It can very well be a superhero movie with layers and nuances of something else in between. Love and Thunder may not have succeeded very well at it, but it definitely had nuances of romcom in it for example.

And as the Crew Jackets revealed Harrison Ford will be be appearing as the Red Hulk in the movie. Not very 'grounded'.
I wonder if they actually got Harrison Ford into a mocap suit for the Red Hulk scenes? For some reason he just doesn't strike me as someone who'd be real into doing that kind of thing.

It wouldn't be unprecedented for someone else to do the mocap. In Ang Lee's Hulk, the Hulk's performance capture (at least the body, maybe not the face) was done by Ang Lee in a Hulk-proportioned muscle suit, rather than by Eric Bana.

Maybe I’ll be proven wrong but I can absolutely picture the look of disgust on his face when someone asks him to do it.

Then again, he’s big on doing his own stunts, so maybe he’d be up for this.

In the MCU, the Captain America movies have been about clashes of ideals and ideas as much as super-heroics. They're political thrillers in a super-hero/comic book setting.

The very reason the Cap end of the MCU stands far above the rest, with the most compelling plots (Civil War being the exception) and character development that really says something about human motivation and not just getting to the next "biggest ever" thing.

Mackie from the EW article:

"It made more sense for it to be more of a grounded espionage action movie as opposed to aliens and airplanes coming through portals and s---," Mackie tells EW. ."

That's the most encouraging approach to / view of a Cap film. In the comics, Cap has certainly faced many outlandish things, but his best stories were always focused on the more grounded forms of threats (within a fantasy story), sociopolitical turmoil and character challenges. I hope Mackie, Onah and Spellman's promises will be fulfilled in Cap 4.

Just realised there was no mention of 'Blade' at the presentation of Marvel's upcoming movies. It's never getting made, is it?

And allegedly (so could be total bull) the "*" in Thunderbolts will be replaced by "Part One" on release. If true that's a massive vote of confidence or level of delusion on their part to think it's going to do well enough to earn a "Part Two".

Random observation. The PG-13 "Once Upon a Deadpool" is not available on Disney plus. A quick Google search indicates that it is exclusive to Amazon Prime and only in certain locations. That's a shame. I'm sure Disney would love to be able to use it for promotional purposes on Disney plus right now. While if I had to choose between which of the two versions I want available to me, I would most certainly want the R-rated version, I wanted to show it to a friend of mine who is a huge fan of both Deadpool and The Princess Bride but has never seen the Fred Savage framing sequence.
