Yeah, it was especially weird when they added All Hail The King, but none of the others. I understand, they add AHTK just because it tied into Shang-Chi, but the other ties into other movies just as much.

our teenage daughter still got Covid, and was seriously sick
I'm sorry to hear that. I hope she's better now.

I've seen all of the Marvel movies, but I still haven't seen all of shows. I have seen everything but the second season of Luke Cage, all of Iron Fist, all of Punisher, all of Cloak & Dagger, Helstrom, Hit Monkey, and the third season of Runaways.
I enjoyed Luke Cage (and wish I knew where they were planning to go!), most of Iron Fist (everyone that wasn't Danny ), the 1st season of Punisher (a huge surprise to me and a testament to Jon Bernthal's talent), Runaways, and really loved what they did with Cloak & Dagger (and disappointed when it was canceled!).

Hit Monkey was surprisingly good - funny and had some heart (it was Hubby's choice) but I was dealing with some stuff and probably need to watch it again. M.O.D.O.K. is *wonderful* - insanely funny, but also had a lot of heart. I hope it gets another season. I don't think either is part of the "official" MCU.

Also, the parents should have been gone by the end of that first arc. They literally murdered homeless people for personal profit for years. You really shouldn't get to have sympathetic redemption stories after that.
Yes, but James Marsters was awesome, so I forgave that. And I *adored* Nico and Gertrude.

Yeah, the Bill Bixby Hulk series was a pretty serious take on a very silly comic book premise and was turned into some pretty gripping and at times scary prime time television.
It was a remake of "The Fugitive" (with a big, green, mostly incontrollable monster that the 'hero' became) in place of "The One-Armed Man".) ;)

It definitely took cues from that and resembled Then Came Bronson, another series with changing locations with a traveling hero who helped solve problems along the way.

Kenneth Johnson claimed he approached Hulk as a cross between Les Miserables and Jekyll & Hyde, but the influence of semi-anthology town-of-the-week shows like Route 66 and The Fugitive was undeniable. Still, "remake" is an overstatement. The Fugitive is famous for that formula, but did not invent or monopolize it.

Marsters is usually fun, but they had him act so bland and stiff in this role he felt wasted. Gert & Molly's parents were the only ones I found at all interesting . . . largely because they were playing it very broad, which also made them the most annoying.

And yeah, Nico was easily my favourite of the bunch in the comics and that held true on the show, so I'd call that a successful adaptation. Gert was well adapted too as that's pretty much how she was in the books. Not my favourite character, though being a member of the patriarchy I feel I'm not exactly the target audience here. ;)

The only real let-down of the bunch for me was Molly. Not because the actor did anything wrong, or that there was any poor decisions being made; it's just an artefact of the practicalities of having to make a show with actual people, and casting her as young as she was in the comics (and not have her grow much for however many years the show goes for) just isn't tenable. The main visual gag of Molly in the comics is that she's tiny and much younger than the others, and yet she's "Hulk smash!" one in a fight. It's just a shame that was lost. In a movie they may have been able to pull it off, bit on on a show.

I love the guy who played Gert's dad - he was in Alias back in the day. And I fully admit that Gert reminds me of myself at that age - militant, loud, covering my insecurity, feeling like the "ugly duckling"... ok, myself up into my 40s.

Molly was tough to do, obviously, but I thought the actress captured her personality well. But I get your point - my favorite image ever in the comic was Molly standing in front of Punisher (barely to his waist I think) and then punching him in the gut. HARD. :luvlove:

Not a shocker really given her comments back at the start of Lockdown but Evangeline Lilly is a full-on anti-vaxxer who was at RFK Jr's recent repulsive protest.

Good luck promoting Ant-Man next year Marvel!

How disappointing.
Damn. Disappointing is right.
Yeah, it's always disappointing when you find out someone you like, is one of those types.
I had thought the whole thing with her at the beginning of the pandemic was a misunderstanding on her part, but I guess not.

She's anti-Vaccine mandate, it appears she is vaccinated herself, as implied by the sign she posted and the fact she continued to work after Disney's vaccine mandate was implemented. It's a subtle but important distinction.

Yeah there are degrees, aren’t there.

“I believe in the vaccination and I’m double/triple jabbed” is great

“I believe in the vaccine and I’m double/triple jabbed. But I think every one should be able to make the choice” is still reasonable

“I believe in the vaccine and I’m double/triple jabbed. But I think every one should be able to make the choice and I don’t believe that people should be barred from doing things if they’re unvaccinated” is on the fringe (all businesses have the right to refuse service*)

“Don’t get the vaccine! Microchips and 5G implants! Space lizards and illuminati” is entitle different to either of those second two.

*and vaccination status is not a protected characteristic

Showing up at an event for that grifter RFK Jr is a point where I don't care what she does personally after that. That guy saw a chance to make a buck off fooling parents about vaccinations years ago (pre-pandemic) I'm talking anti-measles/chicken pox/etc... Everything he does is to profit from that racket.

When your OWN WIFE... has to come out and publicly say "DUDE. Stop with all the comparisons to the Holocaust"

I don't think it's reasonable at all. Nobody has the right to "personal choice" when it comes to endangering other people. That's why we don't give people the choice to drive drunk. Because it's not about them, it's about the other people their negligence could hurt. When it's a matter of public health and safety, it's a fundamental category error to treat it as a matter of individual choice. There are many laws in place that prohibit people from doing things dangerous to others, or that require them to do things that protect others. And there have been many vaccine mandates in American history. If we lived in sane times, we'd have had a mandate for months now and COVID would be almost over.
