The Maquis were made fully aware of this as a step towards peace, and they refused to accept the reality of their choice, ensuring more conflict and further bloodshed between the two powers for selfish reasons.
The price of these negotiations was mutual respect of the treaty. The Maquis did not respect the treaty.
