Contest: ENTER March Art Challenge - Blueprints

With only two weeks of March left, I guess, we best get the Fan Art Challenge thread active for you all to post you entries in. :)

This month's challenge, chosen by vote, is:
Blueprints
Arguably the most important manifestation of fan art going back to Franz Joseph and how the popularity of his works proved the ongoing popularity of the canceled series. Taking that as inspiration create your own set of blueprints for anything in Star Trek be it a starship, starbase, technology, bridge layout, etc.

Blueprints may at first conjure up the idea of starships, but FJ's Technical Manual was chockful of a diverse range of plans from small devices to uniforms, bridge consoles to room layouts so hopefully there'll be something to match most people's interests. Maybe even biological diagrams... or is that a stretch too far? :vulcan:

The Rules
  • the artwork you submit should be created during the month of the challenge
  • only one final image can be submitted (although it may contain multiple views)
  • your final entry should be posted in this thread (although dedicated WIP threads are appreciated)
The winner gets to sport the “Art Challenge Winner” banner below their name for the following month, and has the honor of hosting March's challenge. And be sure to help decide what the theme for next month's contest will be in the "Vote for Your Theme" thread.

You have until the end of the 2nd April post your final entries here.

If you have any questions, suggestions, or need more time, just let me know.

Looking forward to seeing your art. Have Fun! :bolian:

Thanks for setting this up, @Starscape :bolian:
This just goes to show a benefit of the theme suggestion/voting threads: When the art challenge winner isn't around to set up the next one, we can still get on with it.

Yep, it's good to have the entire month to procrastinate over... I mean, work on an entry. ;)

In the meantime, I think all my conflicting ideas for this contest may have finally coalesced into something workable. >fingers-crossed<

Finished! Well, as finished as it's ever going to be :D

EDIT 21/03/2023 10:27 - swapped image for a version with sonic shower pixellation (as per LDS: "Kayshon, His Eyes Open") because I completely forgot about it yesterday. The original can be seen in my art thread here.

Great work, @Cyfa. :D

I'm struggling again with this theme, I'm probably trying to be too ambitious. I do have one last idea, though... ;)

How is everyone else doing, anyone else working on an entry?

Anyone... :alienblush:

Well, I plan to put the voting thread up on Monday 3rd April, so you have an extra couple of days it you need them.

Would waiving the "created this month" rule get us more entries? It would be nice to have more than two entries to vote on (once I complete mine).

I'm hoping there'll be a flurry of activity now the weekend's here - after all, blueprints seem to be a popular topic usually. And I'm all for waiving the "created this month" rule if it helps anyone out :bolian:

I had intended to prepare something but this month has been nuts for me. If you want to extend the contest until Monday, I will go ahead and do a truncated version of what I had planned. But if others aren’t similarly inclined to use the extra time to submit an entry, just call the whole thing off and give the win to Cyfa, who has indeed done an imaginative take on the idea.

Howdy all, and a special hello to @aridas sofia- nice to see you again good sir! My entry is based upon some of my earlier work, but drawn from different source material. This design, the Anton-class cruiser, first appeared in FASA's Federation Ship Recognition Manual 2nd Edition, and has had a variety of interpretations, mine being in a Matt Jefferies-esque blueprint homage.

Gasps in awe.

Heck I could almost see that shuttlebus AS the dome above the TOS shuttlebay were it not so deep. This is already my favorite art challenge.

I love that Anton as well Lord Other…the Baton Rouge design language is perfect—more please.

So many amazing entries! Glad to see the turnout. I'm still working on a quick one myself which should be finished by tonight, Germany time. Hope the voting thread can wait until then. :shifty:

Whew, finished …

I too felt compelled to do something with the rubber duck hidden somewhere on the Enterprise blueprints …
