Just planning on writing another fanfic about the Maquis/Starfleet plotline of the early first season on Voyager. It'll involve two original characters I've come up with. A Starfleet lieutenant (Deborah Kinnian) and a Maquis lieutenant j.g. (former Starfleet Search and Rescue operative Carl Stevens).
Their backstory is somewhat explained by my story Star Trek: Voyager - The Guardian.
I figure I'm gonna play with the Maquis/Starfleet storyline a little more. Stevens is a longtime friend of Deborah and in re-cultivating that friendship he alienates himself from some of the more hardline Maquis. I wonder if that would be plausible as a way that some of the other Maquis view Stevens as somewhat untrustworthy.
Given his actions in the fic the Guardian (he risked his own neck in the New Grozny battle to try and save Deborah when she was shot down behind enemy lines) I imagine that he might be a somewhat controvertial fellow amongst the Maquis. I wonder if this would be the case. I imagine because he helped a Starfleet officer escape the Cardassians other Maquis would be suspicious of him when they wind up on Voyager.
