I'm back. Here's yet another fake bit of TREK trivia from my BRAIN.

During production for I, Mudd, a casting director went looking for actresses to play the part of the twin androids.
He found two prostitutes walking a leopard down Hollywood Blvd and brought them in. The Leopard (named Marlon) ripped off Gene Coon's entire shirt off.

An agreement in the contract for the TOS crew allowed for an "anything goes" period during every 2nd break.
It's been recently discovered that sexually subliminal messages were deliberately inserted into various scenes of TOS by a disgruntled set extra.

Famke Janssen was originally asked to play the role of 7 of 9 but due to her bad experience on the episode "perfect mate" she turned down the role
The bad experience was two-fold.
First, Patrick Stewart became infatuated with her, coming by her trailer every morning with a fresh hot cup of Earl Grey, even though she made it clear she drinks only strong coffee to start her day.
Second, Mickey Cottrell, the actor who her character was betrothed to, was also quite smitten with Famke. Having thought he developed a sincere rapport with the actress, Mickey continued to call her after the episode was over and even made a few uninvited drop-ins at her residence. A restraining order was necessary.
Curiously, Mickey Cottrell appeared in a Voyager episode, "The Raven", and repeated his infatuation with Jeri Ryan. He was never invited to further Star Trek series auditions.
Garrett Wang's original name was actually Garrett Wang Chung. But the persistent lingering remembrance of that 80's new wave band "Wang Chung" would find its way into jokes about Garrett, even at his auditions for his role on Voyager (Robert Duncan McNeill couldn't stop himself from starting it up, when they auditioned together). He became infuriated with people asking him "Are you going to Wang Chung tonight, Garrett?" So, he had "Chung" dropped and replaced with "Wang" as his surname.
The upcoming director's cut Bluray release of The Wrath of Khan features a slightly modified scene, so that Khan screams out "KIRK!!!!" right before Kirk yells his infamous line. So now Khan screams first.
Early in VOY's development, "Captain Liz Janeway" was described as "a very shapely young woman with a genius-level I.Q., but was oblivious to her otherwise blatant sensuality." Series co-creator Jeri Taylor believed that was the wrong way to go because audiences wouldn't take such a character in Trek seriously.

The worst of Voy is when Neelix try to light the BBQ with the dilithium crystal to see who can light it the fastest between Neelix and Tuvok. It resulted in a explosion that flung Voyager safely out of Borg space not Kes as seen on TV. Needless to say, Tuvok wasn't please! Those dumb aliens. When are they going learn? And he fracking cheated!
This is why no other series after Star Trek the Next Generation has any spoken dialog in the opening sequence;
In order to support the new DS9 series, the studio decided to pay Brooks a small royalty each time DS9's new opening dialog aired.
Shatner heard of this and demanded $1,000 per word in the opening dialogue in royalties.
When the studios considered this, Stewart heard of this and demanded the same.
Shatner then sought to trademark the entire dialog. Stewart's lawyers attempted to sue to block the attempted trademarking.
The studio lawyers attempted to put an injunction on both actors. The actors' lawyers responded by suing the studio for unjust enrichment.
The DS9 producers then sued the Paramount producers for breach of contract.
DS9's cast then threatened to sue Paramount.
A studio extra then sued the studio for royalties, because he claimed his finger print could be seen on DS9's exterior.
And that's why no opening dialog was ever spoken again on any Trek series after TNG.

They cut out the scene where T'Pol threw up the soup all over Archer when he was eating shepherd's pie, double meat, just the way he likes it. [chuckle]
The morning after scene where they show the toilet clogging up and the ship's plumbing was all screwed up after the last night dinner, double meat, was also deleted.

The Klingon forehead appliances were made using molded chocolate, which melted under studio lighting. Michael Dorn often found himself distracted during the filming of TNG, as he could not wait for each scene to end so he could lick up the drippings.
Actually, the idea of the Klingon ridged head was originally inspired by the look of the spiny terrapin:
They had originally intended Worf to have the ability of withdrawing his head down in between his shoulders, but the special effects proved too costly and difficult.
