Lt.Kyle

It already has, because Picard remembers the bullet holes in the walls of the chateau (caused by the battle with the Spearhead soldiers) from his childhood.

And of course there's Borgati's appearance in the first episode.

That Happened to Confederate Picard in the Confederate timeline.

(Federation Picard in Confederate Picard's body time traveling from the Confederation future to the Confederation past.)

Confederate time travellers cannot travel to the federation past and Federation time travellers cannot travel to the Confederate past.

The writers made a rule, and then 9 episodes later broke it.

You saw what you saw because the writers are dumb.

They forgot about Times Arrow.

Made some bullshit up about how Federation Picard from 2368 does not exist in a Confederate future that is going to become the Confederation 2401, so Times Arrow did not happen, and 2024 Guinan had never met Picard in 1893.

For old Gunian to remember 2024, but to not have met Picard in 1893, this is a new timeline, similar to but not where we saw season one take place, even if old Guinan was claiming that she remembered 2024 before Q took Picard to the Confederation.

handwaves to explain changes are necessary...

No, many fans (and the Trek novelists) enjoy filling in such factoids for themselves. During the 70s and 80s, a popular series of articles in "Trek" magazine (and Signet's "The Best of Trek" paperbacks) was Leslie Thompson's "Star Trek Mysteries... Solved!"

And he grew a goatee for TWOK. Pick a look and stick to it, dude!!

Check out his moustache in TAS!

You are wrong.

There are four 2024s.

1. 2024 where Federation Picard sorts out Times Arrow and it leads to the Federation where Federation Picard is taken to the Confederation time in 2401.

2. 2024 where confederation Picard sorts out Times Arrow and it leads to the confederation because Q shakes the timeline and federation Picard arrives the confederation timeline.

3. 2024 where Confederation sorts out Times Arrow and it leads to the conFederation after Q makes changes to steer time towards the confederation, and then Picard steers it back towards the Federation.

3a. This is where the writers fucked up. If Picard moves to 2401 from timeline 3 it's going to morph into time line 4 where young Guinan met young Picard, and middle aged Guinan didn't meet old Picard, but its still time line 3 where they show had its 2024 adventures even though as soon as they steer time back to the Federation, by 2368 times arrow happens and erases all their adventures in 2024 because young Guinan met middle aged Picard.

4. 2024 where federation Picard sorts out Times Arrow and it leads to the Federation, and federation Picard in confederation Picard's body returns back to the future, and continues his android life.
It was all part of Q's last snap. Q did not send them back from the timeline they were in. Q sent them back to the previous timeline that was never altered. In that same snap to seamlessly transferred Rios and his family to that correct timeline; and also blips Borg Queen Agnes Juratie. This is the reason that last snap killed him.

Guinan just remembers everything like she remembers every hiccup in time ( in the same way she remembers the hiccup of TNG S3 Yesterday's Enterprise).

Actually, by that point, the timeline had been fixed. They were already in the Federation's past, even before Q sent them home. That's why Guinan remembered Picard, since his trips to the past once again happened.

minor spoilers for this week's episode
Now we're going to have to wonder if the rumors this week about Kyle being a jerk apply solely to SNW Kyle or also apply to TOS Kyle.

Isn't it an assumption that one moment of being a jerk always makes you a jerk?

I don't really get TOS-style rank insignia, so is Kyle even a Lieutenant? They keep referring to him as chief. He also wears that weird uniform. Is he a CPO? Or is that just for transporter chief?

I thought Winston was playing Australian too, but it turns out he was delivering a Yorkshire accent, I think?

Thanks. I can take being wrong, but being just plain stupid always bugs me.

I'm a bit annoyed with the casting. But I'm the kind of guy who's still annoyed that ENT didn't even try to handle T'Pau's accent.

Data's head is buried under San Francisco in not only 1893 but also 1986, 2024, ENT and even in the Kelvin Timeline since the splinter point in that timeline wasn't created until 2233. It's a pretty clean and linear(no pun intended) concept overall and has worked for me for years.

Possibly not the Kelvin timeline as that timeline's 24th century may play out differently and Data may not go back.

Just glancing a this thread and.. my whole damn life, I've read TOS Kyle as Australian. Have I been wrong for decades?

Memory Beta agrees with you, if I remember my last visit correctly.

It's a new adaptation of the Prime timeline.
Agreed. Don't know exactly what that means. I've read that Kirk is captain next season. I've also read the show season one is set 2257. Korby disappears 2261. https://www.gamerevolution.com/guides/705114-star-trek-strange-new-worlds-timeline-year-takes-place
I've also read that Season 2 on takes place between 2269-2271. So if this is correct we jump 12 years from season 1 to season 2. But didn't the animated series finish out the 5 year mssion? I'm still betting this is really an alternate timeline.

Season one of SNW is 100% 2259 (Pike gives a Kelvin-style stardate at the end of the 1st episode), I assume season 2 will be 2260 but could be anything. Those articles are just speculating.

So Kyle's MA pages have been merged and the talk threads indicated that editors chatted with show crew who said this was meant to be TOS Kyle.

At what point does non-screen writer intention become canon? Will Decker was clearly supposed to be Matt Decker's son, and the official Star Trek website outright says so: https://www.startrek.com/database_article/decker-w . Yet the Memory Alpha page still treats that as speculation.
