Hey, a lot of people like TMP.
I realized that I didn't say that I meant this for Discovery. That they didn't add to canon, but instead overwritten parts of it. I like TMP just fine.
Hey, a lot of people like TMP.
It's basically the Trekdom version of the 'gay agenda'. A nebulous, non-existent conspiracy theory made up by people afraid of change.

Star Trek history isn't immutable.
It's entertainment first, which means that things can change.
Still not sure what DISCO "overwrote" but hey let's bash it anyway.
Or their just different, rather than presenting Klingons as a monolithic culture and species.Visual style of everything beginning with Klingons and their ships.

Almost like, there was variety in them, like humans.
We have seen the leadership of the 24 houses and the aristocracy. Should we assume all Klingons look the same from that sample size? Especially when, on Earth, aristocrats and royal lines have experimented with inbreeding, body modification and other ways to set themselves apart? So far that wasn't what they showed us. We've seen all 24 (?) houses and all klingons look the same. I will admit, some Klingon uniforms look pretty close as old ones. But their ships are completely different.
But enough about TMP...Visual style of everything beginning with Klingons and their ships.
That happened with TMP, TNG, and onwards. I started as a child with TOS, so any Klingon that didn't look like an unridged Ming the Merciless still looks "wrong" to me. But as an adult I brush it aside, because the stories are far more important to me than incidental details like costume and makeup.Visual style of everything beginning with Klingons and their ships.
It sounds as if he knows Trek fans pretty well. I think he may secretly be one.

Would I be thrilled to see TOS style Klingons finally show up on DSC? Sure, but it doesn't make or break the show for me.
Sounds like Gene Roddenberry to me.In the meantime, though, I'm sure the self-congratulating will continue on the set, because they are doing what they want, and they thus met their one criteria for success.
Nothing will get solved---there are those who like to change thing because it suits their agenda, and people who don't like the arrogance of those who hijack things for their own agenda. I can't wait for the production staff to start weighing in on the evils of cultural appropriation...even as they do it.
Isn't it obvious?define exactly whose and what ‘culture’ is being ‘appropriated’.
