Looking for some cool Time Travel movies...

Helen wanders through it.

She's lovely but the Single Guy controls that movie.

I'm almost sure that that one was made for tv?

^Yeah, I think it was a USA channel original movie.

And you're right that Helen Slater "only wanders through it", but it's been so many years since I saw it, even though I own the DVD, that she's the main thing I remember from it.

The only 12:01 film worth seeing is the short film - the original - starring Kurtwood Smith.

Not a movie, but a television series, check out quantum leap.

A lot of the movies I can think of has already been mentioned, but one that's not been mentioned yet is the time travellers wife

ABC Family produced a made for TV movie recently called My Future Boyfriend.

Barry "What about Brian" Watson living in a sterile Vulcan like future, travels back in time to discover what this love thing he is reading about in pulp romance novels he uncovered in an archaeological dig from Sarah Rue.

Then of course there's happy Accidents where Marisa Tormei is so disheartened about the impossibility of finding a dateable man in New York city that when her new boyfriend accidentally reveals that he is a time traveller, that she doesn't mind that he's an escaped mental patient because a good man is reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally that hard to find...

Or he really is a time traveller and she still isn't bothered.

If you want to talk about excellent time travel TV?

I went apeshit when I discovered this last year, but JJ Abrams finished Felicity, said every thing wanted to say and it was cancelled or completed or whatever and then the suits hand him an extra 7 episodes above and beyond, and he's got nothing. Nothing. They screwed him. He wrote himself into a corner. Poor JJ. So, what did he do? Felicity gets struck by lightning, falls into a coma and either has a dream about travelling though time to moments before she cut her hair in season one, or she actually falls back through time, AND SHE DOESN'T CUT IT! it's weird listening to Felicity talking about causality and the space time continuum but JJ was cutting his teeth before he started screwing us with all that shit on the Island.

Every time somebody mentions time travel movies I think of the suggestion that Bill Murray's character in Groundhog Day was trapped in the loop for 10,000 years from his point of view. (I think it was his costar Stephen Tobolowsky who suggested it. Some kind of Buddhist reference.) I find that very hard to believe. That would have driven him irrevocably insane...

Oh, it drove him insane, all right, just not irrevocably. As one of Raymond Feist's characters said,
The thing about madness is you can only be crazy so long. After that you either kill yourself or you get better.
And he couldn't kill himself.

A pat (and unsupportable) answer, I know. But after all, who knows what's really going to happen to the human mind in that time?

Hey, anything is possible. We're talking about a story that postulates 1) a time loop occurring for no apparent reason, 2) someone remembering information from one loop to the next for no apparent reason, and 3) Bill Murray turning into a nice guy.

Makes sense. I feel like I've seen Tobolowsky's "5% cash back" commercials 10,000 times.

At least he's not doing that Whistling Bellybutton thing.

And I just thought...Kurtwood Smith's gotta be the unluckiest actor in the world when it comes to time travel movies/shows. Every time he's in one, it always has some tragic result. 12:01 PM, VOY's "Year of Hell", that Doorways series although that was mainly 'sideways' travel... Poor guy can't catch a break!
