List Only! Last Star Trek Episode You Watched

TOS-r: The Return of the Archons

I suppose the religious symbolism is part of what keeps drawing me to it.

Plus, it's just a creepy and rather cool episode. Atmospheric and with the right mix of camp and menace. The Landru story has always been a sentimental family favorite for me and apparently Roddenberry himself once listed it as one of his favorite episodes from the Original Series.

I think Return of the Archons is a highly underrated episode.

TOS-r: A Taste of Armageddon

"Archons" and this are my two favorite planet stories. Both establish templates for the many planet stories to follow which turn events in both these episodes into overused cliches. Latecomers to Trek are often unable to appreciate these two shows because they don't realize that they were the first of their types.

"Armageddon" is an exciting action adventure filmed entirely on the soundstage with no location work. It keeps the viewer entertained, while wrapping everything in a good anti-war message.

Shatner looks incredibly trim and fit here, with several action moments, including a well choreographed fight against two stuntmen, doing it all himself with no double.

James Doohan gets some of his best scenes in the series, going nose to nose against Ambassador Fox, especially when he flatly refuses to follow given orders.

And Miko Mayama has her own tough woman moments as Yeoman Tamura. It's too bad they never brought her back trapped with Sulu in a danger situation, those two planning an escape could be something.

I love TOS Season 1. Always have. It's hard to find a Season 1 episode that you don't like, and even the weakest and stupidest ones have their inherent charms and little redeeming factors.

TOS-r: Space Seed

Stuntman Gary Coombs not only looks nothing like Shatner in the big engine room fight, he doesn't move that much like him either.

I think I employed a triple negative there.

"The Corbomite Maneuver" on YouTube. The original and completely uncut 1966 version, not the Remastered edition with updated effects.
