Encounter at Farpoint...oh, geez...it's horrible. Overacting, loud cheesy music...I'm sort of surprised that TNG made it past season one but with the lack of new Trek since TOS on tv people were willing to give it more than just a chance.
I love EAF - a highly entertaining pilot from the finest season of TNG. The music is superb - and so, so preferable to the hitherto unimaginably dull, bland and mind-numbingly boring muzak that followed from roughly S4 onwards.Encounter at Farpoint...oh, geez...it's horrible. I'm the opposite. I'd rather have dull than overblown music. At least I can ignore the dull stuff. If it's over blown and bad I can't.
That's cool, totally respect your opinion. For me, the music in early TNG was far from overblown and actually added to the ambience of the show in no small way. Personally, the blandfest of later seasons drew my ear much more forcibly - but somewhat negatively.I'm the opposite. I'd rather have dull than overblown music. At least I can ignore the dull stuff.
