List Only! Last Star Trek Episode You Watched

Voyager's Parallax - I've been listening to the Delta Flyers podcast where Garret Wang and Robert McNeill are doing a rewatch and talking about the filming of the episodes. It's nice to know that the simultaneous "Warp Particles!" line by Janeway and Torres was a joke that ran through the entire series.
Honestly, listening to the podcast is way more fun that rewatching the episodes.

In preparation for next week's Delta Flyers pod, just watched:

VOY: "Emanations"

Damn, the Voyager crew comes off BADLY in this one, they make the situation worse at nearly every turn, and the heartbreak of the aliens is so heavy that it all just becomes terribly depressing. Though I do enjoy Transporter Chief Seska, busily beaming corpses all over the place the whole episode.

TNG “Second Chances”. Will is a bit of a dick throughout the episode, and Tom comes across a more sympathetic and ultimately tragic character. I wonder what happened to him after DS9’s “Defiant”. Probably nothing good sadly :(

ENT: "The Breach" - I only watched this for John Billingsley's awesome Phlox, but Trip adorably threatening the other spelunking Denobulans was the icing on the cake!

TOS - "The Trouble with Tribbles". It's a cute take on invasive species but it's played up too much for laughs. But the acting and plot structure and flow are perfect...

Oh, gods, I just watched ENT: "Similitude", and now I'm just a mess :wah:

And then ENT: "The Forgotten" - why am I doing this to myself?!? :wah:

DS9: Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges.

The DS9/TNG Movie style dress uniforms are really, really sharp. Way better than the TNG series version.

TNG “Descent”. As a kid I was super excited at having the Borg back for another cliffhanging season finale. This is no “Best of Both Worlds”, although it is entertaining until Picard makes the daft decision to beam virtually the entire crew onto the planet while the Borg are at large. The cliff-hangar sucks unfortunately, with Lore back at his moustache twirling (sorry, mouth twitching) hokiest.

I can't sleep, I'm in the middle of sorting through stuff going back over 10 years (papers or paperwork I want to keep, throw out, or have to set aside to shred before I can throw it out), and I'm on a roll but want to keep from going crazy. So I'm putting on the entire first season of DSC in the background. Starting with "The Vulcan Hello". Let's see how far I get.

So this is a binge-watch, but it's a different type of binge-watch. This is the type of shit you can get away with if you don't have kids. :p

I've got a lot of Trek crammed in the last 24 hours!

DS9: "Inquisition"
ENT: "In A Mirror, Darkly, Part II"
TOS: "The Enemy Within"
VOY: "Flashback"
DS9: "The Changing Face Of Evil"
DS9: "What We Leave Behind"

Goddamn, "The Enemy Within" is terrible!

It's a shame "Flashback" isn't better. Takei is great, but that story structure is so awkward, it just feels stilted and airless. Also, kind of unsettling the last beat for Rand is getting knocked unconscious and stripped, given Grace Lee Whitney's terrible history with the franchise!

TNG “Descent II”. A bit of a mess frankly. The bumptious Ensign Tate is one of the most irritating characters I’ve ever seen on Trek, and Lt Barnaby is also annoyingly smug. Best moment: at 31:26 minutes a Borg extra flamboyantly sashays across the screen with arms swinging from side to side. It’s like this extra based their entire mini performance on Dance Like A Robot.
