And as I recall, the alternate version has title cards marking "Act I," "Act II," etc. I'm not sure if this was for the benefit of the studio execs (since a pilot is meant to sell the show to the studio), or if GR originally intended for it to be broadcast that way.

While of course Kirk and Spock had a strong friendship and made a great team, we saw another great team in action in this episode, Scotty and McCoy. Had the worst come to pass, Enterprise would have been left in the capable hands of the two old men of the ship...who would have blasted Eminiar VII back to the stone age before leaving orbit.
