TNG - The Naked Now

This episode is not a good way to start the regular run of episodes. Thankfully, I think the first good episode of Season 1 comes in about 4 episodes so just a little longer.

STAR TREK: Insurrection

When Riker turns to Troi and asks if she believes 2 people can go back in time to fix a mistake they made and she replies with, "on this ship? Anything's possible," that's what it's all about for me, in a nutshell. That's why I love TNG so much ... the possibilities are endless. INS features the Enterprise-E, of course, but for the series, I've always imagined that the "D" in Enterprise-D stands for "The Ship of Dreams." In any event, I'm quite fond of Insurrection and even though Michael Piller's script is lacking in the scope and size, of say .. "First Contact," Jonathan Frakes' style is all up in it ...

Watching That Which Survives (TOS) and noticing how Kirk can be quite rude.

Mr.Sulu: Russia was once hit by an asteroid that took out entire forests...
Captain Kirk: If I wanted a Russian history lesson, I would have brought Chekov along

and a few more. Enjoyable episode nonetheless.

The Lights of Zetar (TOS)

BTW, in case anyone didn't know, you can now download episodes from Netflix onto your mobile device and watch them offline. So I've been watching TOS while commuting on the subway.

TNG-The Nth Degree. My TNG season 4 BluRay just arrived, and that one is one of my favorites from that season.

Second Sight - DS9
Sanctuary - DS9

Second Sight was just...hoo boy. Not DS9's finest. Just dull and uninteresting. A slog.

Sanctuary was pretty good. I definitely liked the episode more once the conflict around the Skrreea wanting to immigrate to Bajor ramped up. Great message from Haneek at the end. Bonus points for continued relevance too.

Elaan of Troyius

Two Observations:
1. The Klingon battle is actually really cool. Another example of TOS making great use of somlittle to make a sequence really fun and intense. "We'll pivot at warp 2 and bring all tubes to bear!"

2. The Klingon Captain in this is a total monotone badass. "Prepare to be boarded or destroyed..."

What You Leave Behind (DS9)
Strong finale. It's no All Good Things but it's a good wrap up of the show. Some light character moments to balance the war stuff. A shame that the Terry Farrell controversy kept Jadzia out of the flashbacks, especially Worf's looked silly without her.
