The last episode I saw was Q Who. I love how i starts like like every other cheesy season one or season 2, with a naive and over-enthusiastic officer that is just so happy to be on the Enterprise. But then the episode goes much darker than most movies I've seen. It's a brilliant turn that single-handedly turned TNG from a good show to a great one.

I don't think they were that blatantly dismissive of their guests as some have remarked, especially given the critical nature of the circumstances being faced. In fact, during the short briefing room encounter, I thought Picard's attitude was quite a bit more sanguine.
