Legend of the Seeker anyone?

I wasn't raelly aiming for 'rude', so much as playfully befuddled and sly. I'm just saying that this is pretty blatant and it seems odd to me that no one is batting an eye when this guy regularly bumps this thread every time it fades.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but over the years I've seen at least a handful of threads closed and at least a couple people banned because they joined just to advertise their site or a product. It is different if it is a long-term member who is proud of something they've worked on and want to encourage their friends and fellow posters to 'help a brother out' (like one of the writers with a new book), but I don't want the BBS to become a regular venue for 'plants' and this kind of advertising. We're here to geek out together as equals, not be pitched to by the studios.

I don't know the rules, so maybe this is just fine, I'm not asking the guy be banned or anything. . . but there is interest enough in the show that at this point that I think we can discuss it on our own without help from someone 'encouraging' it.

On that note: I think the new teasers are quite a bit better than the first, though both Kahlan and Richard's voice-overs are pretty painful. Regardless of that though, consider me slightly more likely to watch.

I understand your concerns, but no I'm not just a shill. I'm a sci-fi/fantasy fan, who also happens to be working directly with fans and site moderators to talk about this show. Where relevant, of course. I wouldn't have mentioned it here if there was no connection to Star Trek. This is one of the more vibrant message boards out there.

So far, this has been one of the best threads, so thanks for all the feedback. The show looks to be some great Saturday night entertainment and I am looking forward to seeing the final result.

I didn't mean to jump on you, just a bad moment and I somehow went from joking around to talking much more seriously than this particular issue probably warranted. You can at least see where I'm coming from considering the circumstances and the history of that sort of thing online. We've so far mostly avoided that on this forum and as someone who spends waaaay too much time on here, I'd personally like it to stay that way.

The proof will be in the pudding. My only thing about Richard was I envisioned him with longer hair (there are passages in the book where he says he runs his fingers though his hair) but that's not a deal breaker.

Casting is important in a project like this, and if you can get behind Richard after a few episodes, that is the main thing.

My biggest problem with the casting is that it looks like he just finished highschool. When I picture Richard I pictured someone a little closer to 30 ( maybe around 28) and more of a rugged outdoorsy type. In all honesty he looks like he should be singing in a boy band.

wow i looked at those 3 previews and umm I realize actors need to settle into roles and all, but ok...

I guess they're going to avoid any long-winded, neo-con driven speeches by Richard from the books because honestly if that actor they picked started talking seriously like that I'd laugh at him. He doesn't only look like he's just out of high school he sounds like it.

OK, this does nothing to make me more hopeful.

What's not to like?

Okay, just funnin'...yeah this has a sub-Stargate cheesy vibe...I'll check it out but I'm far from hopeful.

I can agree with that. SG:A is garbage but I keep watching because of Joe Flanigan. If there's someone like that in the cast - at least some talent, and a hell of a lot of charisma - then it will be immediately obvious. But in my experience, the Flanigans are pretty rare in the acting talent pool and boring actors more along the lines of the cast of last year's Flash Gordon debacle are far more the norm.

Saw that after it was posted on the facebook group the other day. Not bad. The boundary actually looks how I pictured it too. I am cautiously looking forward to the premiere.
