Law & Order General Discussion Thread

Did they just open up two doors on two different shows for Rollins to return??

I'm sure they'll all call on her when needed. And I was as confused as y'all that she's somehow a shrink now.

And I hated Carisi's line about being a father to Jesse and Billie. They already HAVE fathers! Doesn't Rollins let the girls SEE their fathers? What the fuck? I mean, Declan Murphy and Al Pollack are both decent guys, there's no reason why Amanda shouldn't let them see their kids.

Also I'm starting to suspect that both Bruno  and Churlish will stick around for good, but one will go to OC and the other to SVU.

Oh, and the Shadowerk thing was actually pretty cool. I think it's my favorite arc apart from the Chicago crossovers (which I hope will start up again).

And I'm still stoked about Law & Order: Toronto!

Edit: The L&O wiki has what is apparently the opening narration for TOR:

In Toronto's war on crime, the worst criminal offenders are pursued by an elite squad of detectives who investigate high-profile crime and corruption in metro Toronto. These are their stories.

She's not a shrink. She's somehow a professor and ace criminal profiler 18 months after leaving the police force.

It's ... not entirely uncommon for this to happen. Over the last several years, I've dated several women who don't have their children's fathers in their lives, for various reasons. Rollins explicitly told Murphy to stay away, and she told the doctor baby daddy (whose name I can't remember) that she didn't love him and that she'd have their baby on her own.

It's Law & Order: Criminal Intent: Toronto (which is a mouthful of a title), and as of now it hasn't been scheduled for US airing, it's Canada-only.

About Special Victims Unit, why am I feeling that before SVU ends Elliot and Olivia will end up together?

I wouldn't put it past DW. It would make whatever has happened these last few seasons utterly worthless.

I don't care about the cases or the other characters that much tbh. No interest in them. I came back for EO. So other parts don't hold or keep my interest that much.

I don't need that to have a satisfying conclusion to SVU, even though its probably coming down the pipe.

The one thing I want to know is how much Ice-T makes per episode. I know he more than likely likes the cush gig, but he may price himself out of work especially if Mariska wants more. I could see a future where Bruno is promoted to Sergeant to Velasco, Churlish and a new detective.

So he'd be ripe to be written off if they were looking to off-load a contract.

Ice-T is 65, he's already at NYPD mandatory retirement age. (The character Fin is, I think, 62, so not far off.)

I would have said the same if the writing were anywhere near what it was in 1.0 (s1 to 12). Now it's just tolerating it, at best.

Because SVU is as subtle as a lead pipe in that regard. :sigh:

I hope they don’t end up that way, since even though they were great together as COPS, as lovers they would have the chemistry of a school bus fire.

After spending the entire first season stalking Dylan McDermott over killing his wife, I'd hope that we don't just throw it out the window.

I would be ONLY too happy to throw the Benson/Stabler thing out the window.

On a completely unrelated matter, does anyone know when/if Law & Order: Toronto will be broadcast in the US? Will Peacock carry it?

It's a Citytv production. NBC would have to buy the rights from Citytv, and they don't really have space in their schedule for it.

I'm really leery of it being a Canadian production, which are notoriously cheaper.

If they can make it with the same production value as Flashpoint had, it'll be alright.

though depending on how the long the writers and actors are on strike for it could be purchases to give them new content to broadcast.
