Law & Order General Discussion Thread

When SVU first made it back to air, pretty much everyone was wearing a mask, but they seem to have eased off on that.

The writer's room is really doubling down on the Benson/Stabler crap.

:barf:

If those two end up together, I riot.

Still pisses me off that they killed Ed Tucker; he and Benson had great romantic chemistry. But Stabler? No way. I'd rather have Olivia end up with Hank Voight than with him.

Besides, Kathy hasn't been dead for that long. Pairing Stabler with Benson so soon after Kathy's death would be taking a gigantic dump on the memory of his marriage. Heck, on Blue Bloods, the Reagan men (other than Jamie of course) have been widowers for years, and none of them have remarried...

I just don't understand why they need to end up together.

And that scene, why make Kathy sound like some kind of narcissistic bitch? She's going to dictate a letter to Elliot that basically makes him tell Benson to buzz off. They had been in Italy for years and he's still pining over Benson? Didn't she leave him once already? If she was so concerned about him cheating on her with Benson, she could've just left instead of whatever this master plan was.

Not once, during the entire run of SVU, did I EVER get the impression that Kathy was jealous of Olivia.

I mean, they were friends, and Olivia even saved Kathy's life after that car accident. There wasn't even the slightest fucking hint that Kathy ever thought Elliot was cheating with Olivia or anything like that.

Yeah, Elliot and Kathy did separate for a time, but Liv had nothing to do with that.

Aside from Tucker, Benson's taste in men have tended to be a bit toxic, but there's no way in hell she would have ruined Elliot's marriage. As I said, she's not a homewrecker. And even now that Kathy has died, Liv should know enough to give him some space.

Just got caught up on OC. I sure wasn't expecting...

Nova to be an undercover cop

And for the love of God, what the :censored: is up with that letter Elliot and Liv were talking about? I have absolutely no idea what's going on with that.

Oh, and Jet is awesome. Just gonna put that out there.

 You are not alone in being  about that. Kathy was never the vindictive type... so the letter (at least the part we did get so far) made no sense... since it didn't gel with her as a character. Not to mention that I was very angry after seeing that scene. I was a Kathy fan and I shipped Kathy/Elliot, so seeing her being steamrolled ticked me off.

You in s1 or s2? The letter seemed positive in s1... so the whiplash with it is real.

Another reason this doesn't make any sense: when Kathy first regained consciousness in the hospital (after the car bomb) she was openly happy to see Benson again, and was pleased that Liv and Elliot were working together.

And I seem to remember that Kathy and Liv were even making jokes about the whole situation - meaning, they both knew it was absurd that Elliot and Liv would ever be sneaking around, and were just having a laugh about it.

So there is absolutely no evidence that Kathy was ever jealous of them, and plenty of evidence that she was totally OK with it.

I suppose they do have an easy out, though: Perhaps Elliot was so zonked out that he was misremembering what the letter said. Remember, he was high as a kite when he went to Benson's apartment. So he could have actually forgotten what the letter was really about.

That's what I'm hoping and praying for, anyway.

Isabel Gillies wrote an open letter and posted it online about the backlash she is receiving due to this turn in the storyline. It is really sad she is taking the brunt of this due to bad writing, a toxic portion of the fanbase, and things out of her control especially after she was already written-out. Seems some people can't distinguish between the fiction and reality.

People ask George Clooney for medical advice. People have come up to Jamie Dornan and talked to him as if he was Christian Grey. Soap opera viewers have freaked out when they see two actors who play enemies having fun together off the set.

And when Edward Woodward was making The Equalizer, people kept coming up to him on the street and asking for help, like on the show. So he started carrying information from various social service organizations to give to them.

Exactly! It made no sense... it felt like a cheap plot twist and something meant to shock people. Only it didn't shock me. It just pissed me off.

Maybe.

I'm just suspecting that Kilbride is a total bullshit artist who's exploiting Bell's lawsuit for his own political gain.

And I also suspect he's connected to this whole gang operation. Indeed, wasn't Mykelti Williamson's character (a gang boss) also working for Kilbride? Hell, for all we know, Kilbride could be the one pulling the strings.

Edit: About the latest OC episode, I can't say I'm surprised to see that...

the girls who work at the diner are being trafficked.

I could really care less about Terry Serpico's character and another attempt to make it look like Olivia Benson vs. the world.

SVU has promoted
Octavio Pisano (Det. Joe Velasco)
to series regular.

I still don't understand the need to trade Jamie Gray Hyder in for a new detective unless there is a massive disparity in their pay. There was really more storylines (that I can think of) with Detective Tamin.
