Law & Order General Discussion Thread

I'm just suspecting that Kilbride is a total bullshit artist who's exploiting Bell's lawsuit for his own political gain.

And I also suspect he's connected to this whole gang operation. Indeed, wasn't Mykelti Williamson's character (a gang boss) also working for Kilbride? Hell, for all we know, Kilbride could be the one pulling the strings.

Edit: About the latest OC episode, I can't say I'm surprised to see that...

the girls who work at the diner are apparently being trafficked.
That could be the case.

Very good point! He definitely had some skin in the game there.

Thoughts on...

Flutura being the godmother and Albi being the figurehead?

That surprised me. Caught me off guard.

I still don't understand the need to trade Jamie Gray Hyder in for a new detective unless there is a massive disparity in their pay. There was really more storylines (that I can think of) with Detective Tamin.
Same here along with them trading off Demore. Both characters were good.

I could really care less about Terry Serpico's character and another attempt to make it look like Olivia Benson vs. the world.
I'm honestly curious about it... and I'm not a fan of the whole St. Olivia thing. He really seems like he wants to go after her and she wasn't having it. It was a definite Cragen-esque moment.

Danielle Moné Truitt & Ainsley Seiger are awesome and I love their characters. They just get relegated to second fiddle behind Stabler and all of his drama. I'm well aware the show probably wouldn't be on the air if not for him, but I'm just so tired of it all.

I heart Jet. She is like the coolest ever. She's definitely my favorite character on OC. I hope Jet gets to do more field work as the show goes on. NIce to see her turn up on SVU as well!

As for Stabler? I don't mind him. He's just a decent guy doing his job, and trying to do right by his family. Although I don't like the way they're going with...

Eli stealing his grandma's meds and selling them on the street

And Elliot is clearly not the dysfunctional moron that fathers in the L&O universe tend to be. That's one of the things about L&O that kind of pisses me off - the dads always get shat on. Even Stabler's own dad (whom we never actually saw) was a nasty piece of work. I don't think it would kill them to have a few more decent fathers from time to time...

Edit: Vinnie Jones is credited in the most recent OC episode, despite being onscreen for all of three seconds and doesn't even speak?

I love this sequence SO much from this last Thursday's OC ep. It's one of my favorite EO scenes now.

It's sooo them it hurts, yet it's sooo different. Flirting, co-parenting, concern, love. Husband/Wife energy. More please!

I find myself hoping that Reggie gets killed off and never finds out that his friend "Eddie Wagner" is actually Stabler.

Fun fact: Reggie's mother is the Cardassian judge from DS9's "Tribunal". :cardie:

I think they are setting him up to take the fall for what happened in the last episode. They aren't going to kill off Stabler or put in a position where he won't be involved in some way.

If you're in the episode you're in the episode. Sometimes actors get billed for an episode even if their parts are cut out entirely. Probably something in their contracts.

^I always wondered why Denise Crosby was still listed in the main credits for the last three episodes of TNG's first season even though she'd been killed off in "Skin of Evil." So that was either a contractual thing or they were just too cheap to redo the credits.

Mark Harmon still had top billing for the first episode of NCIS after he left, which is either a contractual thing or he's not gone for good.

Crosby was probably still getting paid for the full season.

When Gotham added Harvey Dent, the actor was credited for the entire season but only appeared in like four episodes. So they brought him in, didn't know what to do with him, dumped him without mentioning it and the actor got a nice payday out of the whole thing.

That's probably CBS being pants-shittingly terrified that if people tune in and don't see Harmon in the credits, they'll stop watching.

The final season of the original Dallas was like that; there were ten actors listed in the opening credits (which didn't change all season long), but only Larry Hagman and Patrick Duffy appeared in all 23 episodes. Three of them (Howard Keel, Cathy Podewell, and Sheree J. Wilson) appeared in less than half of the episodes.

So I was kind of right. I was just glad things started to move.

After that last SVU ep, it's become clear that being "one of Olivia's old lovers" is just as dangerous as being "one of Adam Schiff's friends" from the original series.

In pretty much every instance of either of those things, they turn out to be the bad guy.

Still, it was nice to see Cragen and Amaro again.

As for OC:

Nailing a guy's tongue to the wall?

The kid claiming to be Eddie Wagner's son is...confusing me, to say the least. Why am I suspecting that the Kosta org suspects that "Eddie" is actually Stabler, and sent the kid to suss him out?

Kilbride's creepiness meter just keeps going up, and up, and up. And what exactly the hell was Nona doing there?

Maybe, but at the same time, Stabler is Stabler. He will weasel his way out of it or somehow slide by. It's frustrating that they keep giving these storylines that he is going to be caught or close to being caught when it is blindingly obvious that he is not going to come to any harm.

Maybe. But going from that promo... he looks like he'll be under fire. Someone is targeting the NYPD. Pinning it on him. Going after Olivia. That's what I'm thinking. They find out that he's not really Eddie and find out about his real life.

The first actor for Law & Order: Season 21 has been cast. Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice) will be one of the detectives.

Well - that was disturbing - some The X Files and Breaking Bad level stuff.
And they used it to show a human side to McGrath.

I need to do some binge watching now that baseball is over. The Olivia vs. Everybody storyline was so annoying in the first couple of episodes that the wife & I haven't bothered to catch up.

So what's up with Hate Crimes, anyway? Did they chuck it in the bin like they did with For The Defense?
