Latest acquisition!

The Crew Handbook is awesome!

It really captures the feel of the show, much better than the comics did. I like how Boimler screwed up and printed the version with final comments by accident, seemed very on point.

Can hardly wait to get past the Christmas bills and pick up this book... maybe around March or so. :(

Ironic story title for this issue of "Picard's Academy". Loose page alert! The shop has since replaced it.

The IDW comics for the last week: "Star Trek: Defiant" #10 and a wonderful alternate cover of injured Lily the Andorian on the cover of "Star Trek" #15. Pictured with the Pop figure of Badgey from "Lower Decks".

I was hoping for a later shot, but the "Picard" art book does have this early version of the 10 Forward Avenue bar. Pictured with my replica set dressing of a framed Therin of Andor (from the later version of the bar).

New stuff
by Ian McLean, on Flickr

New this week: Two chunky volumes of "Phantom of the Backlots", compiled from many Facebook posts by a guy called Donnie Norden, whose house backed onto one of the movie studio backlots when he was a kid. These trade paperbacks, "Hole in the Fence" (2021), and "Uninvited Visitor: The Adventure Continues" (2024), are a lot of fun and contain a few Desilu and Star Trek mentions.

Also out is IDW's "Star Trek: Defiant" comic, Issue #14.

And, accidentally, I stumbled across a "Movieland" Wax Museum (long defunct) set of View-Master reels that features the "Star Trek" TOS bridge exhibit as one of the 21 paired images. I saw these wax figures in person, in January 1984, and had bought a packet of reels about the museum at the time. Coincidentally, I photographed them with a Nimslo 3D camera. Several decades later, I even tracked down the elusive packet No. 2. (I had been certain that it would include the Trek exhibit, but no.) But this third one, on the much later blister pack, was quite a surprise! It is even on the card front:

Just arrived: IDW's "Sons of Star Trek" #2, and my newly arrived Mego Ambassador Shras of Andor holding a tiny version of my pal, Kelly Hoffman's book from 2000, "Unauthorized Handbook and Price Guide to Star Trek Toys by Playmates".

Two View-Master packs I have wanted for a long time: "Movieland Wax Museum" (long defunct) that features the "Star Trek" TOS bridge exhibit as one of its 21 paired images; plus the talking version of Filmation's "Yesteryear" (TAS), entitled "Mr Spock's Time Trek". Also "Star Trek: Prodigy" on Blu-Ray; Rhaandarite Ensign Billy Van Zandt's not-Trek script for "The Property Known as Garland" (Billy wrote this for his then-wife Adrienne Barbeau to perform); and Season Two "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" Season Two on DVD and Blu-ray.
