New Trek books
by Ian McLean, on Flickr

Arrived this week Down Under!

Christopher L Bennett’s “The Higher Frontier” (Gallery Books), the newest novel to feature my Tuckerized character, Shantherin th’Clane of Andor (and also the New Human Movement, as mentioned in the novelization of “The Motion Picture”, Thelin the Aenar Andorian of Filmation’s animated “Yesteryear”, the non corporeal Medusans and Dr Miranda Jones of TOS, and many alien and human crew members from “Ex Machina” and its follow-up stories). “Making More Fake Star Trek: The True Story of a Star Trek Fan Film with the Real George Takei” by John Lim & Andy Bray (of “New Voyages”) and a foreword by George Takei.

Also the “Starships Coaster Book” (RP Studio/Running Press) with six collectible magnetic starship drink coasters.

I don’t think it did. Hence why there were only 4 issues.

It was always supposed to be four issues. My reasoning behind thinking it didn't sell well is how bare-bones the TPB is. No editor or author introduction, no additional covers or artwork. Just the four issues.

They actually just announced yesterday that they are going to be doing another miniseries, Season 2.5, which as you can probably guess from the title, will be set between the second and third seasons. It sounds like this is being considered a new series rather than a continuation of the last one, but I guess that's probably debatable depending on how technical you want to get.

I got myself the e-book versions of @Greg Cox's Batman: The Court of Owls novel, and ST: The Lost Era: Catalyst of Sorrows.

So another 2 stories? I suppose that’s better than nothing but I still think they could do more with 1.5

David Goodman is one of the writers/producers for the show, so he probably doesn't have time to do more than that.

Just arrived in the post!: "The Higher Frontier" audio book as a ten-CD set.

Audio book on CD of Star Trek The Higher Frontier
by Ian McLean, on Flickr

"The Higher Frontier" on ten-disc audio, Christopher L Bennett's sequel to "The Motion Picture" and the novel "Ex Machina", featuring the Aenar on Andor ("Star Trek: Enterprise"), Commander Thelin of "Yesteryear" (Filmation's TAS) and a guest appearance by Shantherin th'Clane. ;)

Accompanied here by a pair of screen-used Aenar antennae and my customized action figure of the Andorian Bookworm. Excited to hear Robert Petkoff say my Tuckerized names.

I know it's unabridged, I just thought they could fit more of the book on each disc.

If they were using audio cassettes, they could’ve fit 120 minutes max on one (very thin) tape, so “Higher Frontier” would’ve only been on 6 tapes. Or it could’ve spread across eight higher quality 90-minute tapes.
