Latest acquisition!

I think someone got the numbers wrong. There were 22 issues of the continuing series, plus the “pilot” annual, and the adaptation of “The Cage” for a total of 24.

The first, "Strange New Worlds", was IDW's 2013 annual, and it was a "double-sized issue". (It carried the "New Visions" banner with its reprint edition. Maybe he counts that one as well?)

There was also an unnumbered special, "More of the Serpent than the Dove", which came only with a Humble Bumble offer, and then was included in an omnibus.

All the issues were “double sized”, including the 2013 annual, with the exception of the Humble Bundle exclusive. They were 44 pages when regular issues were 22 pages, and dropped to 40 pages when IDW slimmed their regular issues to 20 pages. (More the Serpent was 20 pages, as I recall.)

Including the Humble Bundle special does make it 25 issues. I forgot about that one!

From the "Star Trek Adventures: Beta Quadrant Sourcebook" (Modiphius Entertainment, 2018). There are strict rules about interfering with the players' antennae.

Final Star Trek vs Transformers; and the second issue of The Q Conflict
by Ian McLean, on Flickr

In the second issue of "The Q Conflict" crossover comic mini-series, Worf, O'Brien and Tuvok are teamed with Kirk. They don "Star Trek: The Motion Picture"-style field jackets!

I just secured the Japanese white vinyl 45rpm single of Shaun Cassidy’s "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" single, “A Star Beyond Time”, the vocal version of “Ilia’s Theme”. Flip side is "Heaven in Your Eyes".

And my Eaglemoss "Star Trek: Discovery" tardigrade has arrived!

Captain Saru comic from IDW

Updated here, so I don't post three-in-a-row. A one-shot "Discovery: Captain Saru" comic from IDW. Leonard Hofstadter scored a new casual Kirk Starfleet shirt from Mego.

The second book of A Pocket Full of Lies (Kleine Lügen erhalten die Freundschaft) by Kirsten Beyer.

The German Publisher split this novel into two books because of economic reasons.

I got the e-book version of TOS: Prime Directive yesterday. I've been hearing good things about this one for a long time, so it's been on my wishlist for a while. I'm looking forward to finally reading it.

I got the latest Star Trek magazine the article about Q who's 30th anniversary was really interesting and Doug Drexlar talking about Filming The Best of Both worlds part one.All the borg articles are really good .

It's really good, I read it years ago on the strength of how well I liked Federation. Very well written, very memorable. I was happy to see it in the latest round of discount ebooks and went for it. It's nice to have it available on my reader.

I got Star Trek TNG Available light yesterday. I'm so glad I to get to read it soon.

New Trek stuff
by Ian McLean, on Flickr

This week's haul: "Retro Fan" #4, which includes a Robert Greenberger article on the Pocket Books' authors' "Star Trek" set visit to Ticonderoga, NY; "Star Trek Magazine" #71; Dayton Ward's latest "Star Trek: The Next Generation" novel, "Available Light"; and J'ai Lu (France, 1980) edition of the novelisations of "Star Trek: The Motion Picture".

I was thrilled to pick up this well-preserved French edition of TMP. I wanted to investigate that old rumour that Alan Dean Foster was wrongly credited, in a translation error, in that edition as the author. Looks like translator Herbert Draï got it right after all!

Above: Title pages of the Futura (Great Britain, 1979) and J'ai Lu (France, 1980) editions of the novelisations of "Star Trek: The Motion Picture".

How the #### is everyone getting the Available Light novel so early? I have to wait till the 18th.
Had to buy a ebook version as I was getting impatient

I like “translated from the American by” not “from English”. Funny!

I guess it means "the American edition", since the UK and Australasian editions had a bonus photo insert (with captions) and slightly expanded descriptions of Kirk's connection with Vice-Admiral Lori Ciana.

How the #### is everyone getting the Available Light novel so early?

It's an April title, so it would normally be in stores the last week of March. (Although trade paperbacks are sometimes later that MMPBs.) Mine was actually running late because my local Australian bookstore only ordered from the Australian supplier this time, when they usually get a few advance copies of each new title direct from Simon & Schuster USA. (This one did come from US, but was ordered two weeks late.)

Pocket/Gallery books don't have a mandated "day of release" like the "Harry Potter" books.

Have you ordered it through Amazon? If so, that'll be why, they have it set at 18th April.

I imagine those with hardback copies ordered it through other online retailers or a brick and mortar book shop.

Received from Amazon:

Terra Incognita from IDW - good artwork, interesting story. Wonder how much more they can milk the mirror universe thread, though.

Star Trek Designing Starships - The Kelvin Timeline. Want to have this book because I'm kind of a completist that way. but good god these are some of the least aesthetically pleasing starships in the history of Star Trek.

Until Disco Klingons came along, anyway.

The science division rules expansion RPG book showed up recently at the local gaming store. Looking forward to seeing what they came up with for this one.
