Last movie you saw?

Saw 'The Mummy' with Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe. It started off really well. It felt like an adventure movie and Tom was just doing his action bit. Then it morphed into a Jekyll and Hyde shout out that was rather insignificant. Kind of ended with Tom being a monster and then fizzled.

What a waste of Tom and Russell, yet I've seen worse ;)

Bag Boy Lover Boy... weird. very, very weird. Theodore Bouloukos was the best thing about it.

Event Horizon

A criminally underrated movie with a super creepy atmosphere and a great score by Michael Kamen and Orbital. Great cast all around with Laurence Fishburne, Sam Neill, Kathleen Quinlan, Richard T. Jones, Jason Isaacs, Jack Noseworthy, Joely Richardson and Sean Pertwee. Works well as a haunted house movie in space, and also really fits in if you pretend it's an unofficial Star Trek prequel with the U.S. Government's early experiments with FTL travel

Jurassic World 2018:

The little girl is played by an amazing actor for someone so young. One thing that I find grating in this kind of movie is that no matter from how high the cliff as long as you fall in water, you're ok. when nothing could be further from the truth, water in these conditions is hard as a rock and there wouldn't be much left of the two in the spherical car. It's a pity to make such realistic Dinos and to spoil it by irrealistic scenes. Anyway as dinosaur movie go, this one is definitely one of the best.

First Man. I initially wasn't going to see it because of the flag planting controversy, but having seen it, I realize that not seeing the flag planted is the least of its problems.

Yeah, saw it last night and while I liked it, I felt it jumped around a lot for something of a historical nature. Also some events were shown without much context to them, even just a label giving us context on what we were seeing would have helped. I was glad I had my Dad along who's very knowledgeable in these things, otherwise I'd have been very lost. I thought Ryan Gosling did a very good job as Neil Armstrong. But I don't know what they were smoking with Buzz Aldrin as he looked nothing like him. Every scene he was in always made me do a double-take.

:sigh: sad that my horror film month is over, BUT the horror continues in Nordic Film Month! ;)

Despicable Me #3
I was afraid that like so many sequels it'd be worse than the previous movies but was pleasantly surprised. It strongly reminded me of the Incredibles, though. Maybe it's the parents/kids relation theme that gave me that impression. Plus all these super tools and inventions.

The girl in the spider’s web. It had lost everything Stieg Larsson intendent for the character Lisbet Salander. Too bad his father and brother exploited his work after he died.

I am rewatching the Jurrasic movies, starting with the first one. Special effects aside it was the best of the lot. Of course, to some people, these movies are nothing but special effects. In that case, the last one would be the best of them. It's all a matter of perspective.

Just came out of seeing The Girl in the Spider's Web. From the opening credits it looks like the movie rights holders are trying to turn her (at least the American version) into their own James Bond franchise. Though I've never read the original books, I feel for their fans, because TPTB have also been trying to do that with Jack Ryan, and lately each new Ryan installment sucks more balls than the last.

That said, i really liked this movie.

I watched Kiki's delivery service today. A charming and warm story that I highly recommend!

My local cinema is showing 10 of Hayao Miyazaki's movies this winter. Apart from the one I watched today they've showed Nausicaä of the valley of the wind and Laputa: castle in the sky. I liked them both a lot! I look forward to the rest of the movies. :)

Outlaw King. Decent historical movie, though I'm not wise enough on the history to judge how many liberties they've taken. In any event, they remembered to cast James Cosmo. Can't have a movie about medieval Scottish warriors without James Cosmo.

rewatched Der Fan... it was a better viewing experience in the original German :techman:
(mild spoilers and NSFW video)
