Largest Starfleet Starship

What is the largest Starfleet starship, either in terms of interior space or length x width x height? I'd have to guess it to be the Enterprise-D unless someone can think of a bigger one...

It's the Galaxy class.

The largest Starfleet starship to ever appear anywhere on screen so far is the upgraded Enterprise from "All Good Things".

The largest fan design that I've ever seen that serious attention was paid to was the Oceana class U.S.S. Chamberlain at Star Trek: Dark Horizons IIRC.

It is a 2400 meter long, 84 deck ship specially built to fight the Borg.

The Galaxy Class is pretty much the only largest ships Starfleeet has. Some ships such as the Sovereign and Akira are half a size of them (almost large or same size but not quite).

Maybe sometime in the future or perhaps later in the 25th century we'll see some that are larger than the Galaxy Class.

I thought size didn't matter in trek's PC future!!

Well, size doesn't really matter in Trek.
To my knowledge the only biggest SF ship would be the Galaxy class.
The Sovereign is longer I'll give you that, but the Galaxy has about 10 more decks in comparison.

Also ... I'm not sure if it really counts ... but what about the Enterprise-J?
Sure it was an alternate time-line, but it's still a SF ship and seemed quite large.

The Nebula class was also very big considering it was basically a modified galaxy class. With the nacelles and engineering section directly under the saucer section. I think the best standard for measuring how large the ship is, apart from the obvious square feet, would be to measure its crew capacity. The Galaxy class can hold 1012 personnel and 200 visitors, while the Nebula can hold 750 personnel and 150 visitors. The sovereign class holds 850 crew members.

The biggest Federation ship that we have seen is PROBABLY the Enterprise-J

Other than that, it would be the Galaxy.

Wasn't there mention of transport ships in several episodes? I would imagine those would be significantly bigger than the Galaxy class.

And why was it that we never saw a really big federation ship? Surely, there must have been some benefits to having a spaceship equivalent to an aircraft carrier. For instance, take the giant Kazon ship seen in Caretaker - that could have carried a ton of Defiants or runabouts. During the war it would have allowed the federation to transport a lot of ships quickly, while also giving them somewhere to return to for repairs. It would have saved energy, and presumably crew members as wounded could be beamed back to the "aircraft carrier" so no medical personnel would need to be present on the fighters.

THE PROMETHEUS CLASS!

Obviously. :brickwall:
As if the Galaxy comes anywhere near as big as the Prometheus, what a laugh.
But the galaxy is bigger, a lot bigger. Galaxy Class was 5,820,983 cubic meters and the Prometheus was only 769,670 cubic feet.

Online figures arn't canon and are made up, it's clear to see the Prometheus is larger and far more bulky than a Galaxy.
The Prommie saucer alone is thicker and as big as a Galaxy class ship.

The Prometheus doesn't look larger at all. Not to my eyes.
