Spoilers Lanterns discussion thread

I must have misunderstood the last episode because I thought that it suggests that Zoe is the Manhunter, and that is likely but not confirmed, but then
All the interviews and press just straight out confirm it

I think it's because the montage of him at Art School is so short - we don't see that interview, then when he's there, he gets invited to an interview while at art school.

I am really enjoying it, but you can see a little bit in the story how they struggled to work out how the ring doesn't just push the story too quickly. Take the bit when they tunnel in; they do this because "there are three sharp shooters" — so what?
Well, they wanted to get in undetected to look around; not just blast in and level the place.

It is similar to my theory that the entire Stewart family might have been played from the start, a long con if you will though it doesn't mesh completely with the timeline if the Manhunter arrived with Abin Sur because that happened a good while after John was born.

I still have doubts that Guardian Lady is an actual Guardian, things she does and says don't add up in my book ( are Guardians in the books such huge assholes too) because why would she/it/they push so hard to have Hal removed when they control the entire Corps and Tech and could simply fire him for insubordination or something like it. I doubt Corps morale is such a major consideration to keep Hal if he's popular for bringing in Sinestro.

All i'm dead certain is that nothing is as it appears on the surface, there's too many hidden agendas floating around and nobody is telling the whole truth to anybody.
Depends on the comic book era - but generally, yes.

The one major problem I have with FPAlpha's theory based on the rules established thus far in the story - never mind what's gone on in other media - is the "Guardian" having a green power ring available.

If they're holding off the reveal (based on other media) that the manhunters use the green tech as well, they'd better get to it, because it's getting to where any ground rules that haven't been laid down will feel like a cheat.

Other than that, the minor problem with the theory is that it's kind of obvious. But then, so was Zoe = manhunter, and they managed that when it turned out that the machine's identity won't be the major mystery of the show.

All in all, though, I like the theory. Everything about the Guardian's shady behavior fits into it nicely.

Here's the deal: the Stewarts don't know the exact date that Jordan got the ring, and it turns out there's a gap between that event and John Sr's later traumatic experience.

Oh, and here's a thing - I imagine that I've missed someone pointing this out, already:

Same tech Zoe used in her slaughterhouse.

We've seen that Hal uses a pocket universe to stash his battery. But we didn't see how it opened and closed. They've made a visual point of showing the black hole effect twice.

Oh, wait - here's another thing:

Maybe the "Guardian's" ring didn't work?

Maybe she knew, somehow or another, that John can manifest the green energy on his own - they've made a big point of that ability, but the importance of it has not been revealed to this point.

This is why she picked him out as a child (no, I have no theories about how she knew).

John, conditioned to expect a call to become a Lantern, presented with a fake ring, made it work because he believed that it worked.

Worth noting - we've seen him struggle to produce a predictable result when wearing Hal's real ring.

I might've missed it but can only John and Hal use the ring? Otherwise when they got captured I wondered why Macon didn't take the ring for his own use. But then he seemed fearful of the Lantern Corp raining hell down on him if he killed Hal, so maybe that's why?

I had wondered if the other Guardians knew what Linney was up to. But Hal was apparently informed of John by the other Guardians, so...
Oh OK, the whole situation with John may not have been a set up, but I still think she's working with Sinestro and they're setting up Hal without the rest of the Corps knowing about it.

Can Lanterns make more than one construct at a time? I can see the threat if Hal is using the ring to make a giant fist and unable to bubble shield himself at the same time.

Depends how we depend "multiple constructs" - Guy has multiple giant hands operating at once. Is that one or many?

I think it boils down more to controlling multiple constructs at the same time. I don't think Guy may have been able to have his giant hands play catch with each other, but creating one and having it carry out its physical action and then immediately moving onto the next one may be a lot less strenuous than having to split his attention and keep them all up at once.

It's also possible maybe just because it's Guy and his 'willpower' is such that he can pull that off when other lanterns might not.

I mean this is the dude who (in one version/reality) was ripped in half and rebuilt his anatomy and lower body with the ring while on the brink of death. His willpower is pretty much top level.

I just started this show. Im in episode 3. So far im liking it. Liking an older weary Hal Jordan. John Stewart is also a cool character. His parents are total child abusers and pretty despicable but they did get him ready to become a possible green lantern I guess. Which may not be a good thing in the long run as the guardians seem dubious at best. Interesting show.

J'onn is the Martian Manhunter, distinct from the Manhunters of Green Lantern lore. Though the Manhunters were also featured in the Justice League 2-parter "In Blackest Night":

wasnt that the 2 parter where john stewart thought he destoryed a planet but when his friends from the justice league went to investigate and they found out that john was framed the whole time and the destoyed planet turned out to be a hologram

Well the actor and actress who play the parents seem to think the mother is a "superhero without a cape" and "the real hero of the series". The writer of the episode also seems to think we should at their actions positively.
Depends on your point of view.

They are, however, rather clearly being misled.
