Spoilers Lanterns discussion thread

Apparently a lot of people are furious that they killed off Hal in the flash forward, which is kind of an odd reaction to me since we're still going to get an entire season of the 2016 storyline with Hal. And in general I've just never understood people getting so upset a fictional character dying, like one person said they were never going watch anything DC made ever again. It just seems like a massive overreaction to me, I've had hundreds of my favorite characters get killed in movie or TV shows and I've never had the kind reaction some people seem to be having to end of the first episode.

Game of Thrones never would have made it to a second season.

I was wondering if we'd get one of these; official Lanterns post-episode podcast:

I know. I feel the same. That said, I'm not entirely convinced that he's dead or that it's even Hal. Based on the episode alone I can see it going both ways, and ultimately Hal's fate has been determined by his planned place in the extended universe. It'd be great to see Stewart as the main Lantern as he was in the old Justice League cartoon, and at the same time, I might enjoy a movie universe more similar to the current comics.

I'm thinking he really is dead, but for me the question whether or not they're find a way to bring him back at the end of the season. It wouldn't really be a comic book universe if we didn't have at least one death and resurrection.

It's science fiction, so of course anything could happen, and it's only episode one, but this doesn't feel like a show where we will get "surprise! I'm alive!" at the end.
