There was some discussion of Nimoy and Shatner's pre-Trek careers on another SF forum some time ago... An older fan of Trek who's watched it in the 60s as a child, said that in the 1960s, the leading men, heroic roles on TV were pretty much reserved for blonde all-American pretty boys. So if you had dark, "exotic" or "saturnine" looks like Nimoy, you were always going to play villains and supporting roles of slick gangsters, feisty reporters, smooth salesmen etc. who interacted with the hero... as well as all sorts of "ethnic" roles. He played lots of native Americans (it must be the cheekbones)!!

It will be tricky updating them a little while staying true to the characterization... Because I think those two really would need some updating, they were just so much the product of the potrayal of women on 1960s TV!

Fathers and sons don't get along that well. But what strikes me about their rapport is that it reminds me of when an actor meets the real person they're going to incarnate. I entered Chris Pine on auto-record in my TiVo Wish List, and last night I noticed "Smokin' Aces" is due to be on next week.
