So true, I'd be signing up for the medical section and doing everything I can to be assigned to Enterprise. It seems they stock all the good looking men on there.

When people ask me why I'm dressing up like Chapel I'm going to say first it's a tribute to Majel. Then I'll add "And you know who Chapel gets to work with? That's right. Bow chica wow wow!

I've never watched Heroes, so the only performance I know of Quinto is Spock, and I think he was wonderful. Granted, I miss the deep, rich voice that Nimoy brought to the role, but I think Quinto was great. That being said, Spock doesn't really do anything for me. I like him, but I'm not infatuated with him, and I think Quinto is a nice looking man, but not like Pine.

Karl Urban has been a favorite of mine since LOTR and The Bourne Supremacy, but I didn't find his McCoy particularly sexy, which is surprising considering news of his casting is what got me excited about the movie in the first place. I think Karl is so much more sexy in pictures as himself or in his previous films, rather than him dressed as McCoy.

Pine is handsome and sexy as James Kirk and or as himself, as the above pictures clearly show.

Yeah, I think Pine and Quinto appear to be friends in real life. It certainly comes across that way in interviews and in pictures.

I have a strong aversion to cocky guys. It doesn't really help that Kirk is also a blond man-whore. So naturally, I voted for Spock, even though he is a bit weird looking.

The biggest differences between Quinto and Nimoy are the eyes (Nimoy's are small, while Quinto's are much larger and deeper set) and the nose (Quinto's nose is bigger, rounder and up further). Though there is a certain resemblance, especially with that younger picture. Also, Quinto purses his lips a lot. Quinto has a very noticeable open bite with his teeth.

One thing that does strike me about that picture of Nimoy is that his eyebrows really didn't grow back as thick post-Spock as they were when he was younger. Quinto so far has been lucky with his eyebrows going back to how they were.

I looked at pics of Quinto and older Nimoy and I agree that the eyes are the most different. It's interesting, older Nimoy's nose is a lot closer to Quinto's than the younger pic. It looks a lot wider.

what was that thread again about the producers wanting to discourage K/S by using the Spock/Uhura romance? was that writer serious? discourage? If JJ wanted to discourage K/S he would NOT be choosing these two guys for Kirk and Spock.

Ditto! You know what was my first thought the first time we see nuKirk and nuSpock together onscreen (the trial scene)? Something like "Oh my, the slashers are going to have a field day with them!".

just check the K/S-centered stories on fanfiction.net -- they're threatening to overtake the Spock/Uhura stories in number AND in quality.

I've noticed that too. When you do a search with "Spock" and ask to not show stories with "slash" and "Kirk" keywords, there's not much left
And among what is left, there are some really baddly written stories, mostly because of characterisation problems.

But then, Quinto has done only one movie as Spock with what, 3/4 months of shooting? Nimoy has played Spock for years!
Although given the thickness of Quinto's eyebrows, I'd bet they'll get thicker with the shaving.

Well, yeah. Nimoy's been shaving his eyebrows off for so many decades, they don't get much chance to grow back. But I think Quinto might have the genetic superiority when it comes to hair growth of any kind.
