^ Agreed, Jeri. Though if it were actually Spock eating ice cream, it might have more appeal simply for the amusement factor... :)

I love the picture of the boys in suits (posted by NileQT87). Pine's eyes are gorgeous in that one, and I like Qunito's eyebrow quirk.

Why does it take over? The ice cream picture is not flattering, compared to others.

I wish I knew. If I were to guess I'd say it was before ZQ had done a lot of photoshoots or appearances, and he hadn't had many roles. So his dedicated fangirls were very anticipatory about him doing anything non-Sylarish, which this was.

I'm serious though. Not about the ONE MILLION, but about the large amount of fangirling over the picture/scene.

I think it's the fact that you have this previously über-nasty super-villain suddenly showing up in a totally random scene enjoying a cup of vanilla ice cream. LMAO. Future "daddy" Sylar making waffles and acting like a '50s housewife was just as much of an adorable brain-f*ck for the same reason. Ditto with all the cute Sylar/Mr. Muggles (Mrs. Bennet's Pomeranian show dog) moments.

One thing you can say about ZQ is he is now equally famous for playing both a villain and a hero. His appearance does generally favor him for villain roles, but Spock has allowed him to get to be a good guy. And this Spock gets a love interest! It's certainly a step towards leading man roles.

Has anyone heard his Star Trek novelization tape narration? He is REALLY GOOD at doing character voices. His McCoy, the elder Vulcan, Kirk and Nero are all spot on (he sounds exactly like the actors). He even changes his voice for Nimoy-Spock, which was very interesting. It's not that he can't sound like Nimoy, but that he chose to sound like himself. His Chekov sounds like a dead-ringer for Bartok, the albino Russian cartoon bat from Anastasia--which is hysterical, though not particularly Yelchin-like. His Scotty isn't perfect, but it's hilarious. His female voices are just endlessly hilarious (orgasmic Gaila, for instance). He really managed to make scenes both very emotional and funny. But the voices really stand out (which is expected from all the accents like Southern and West Baltimore that he puts on for Heroes).

Here's a few Heroes/Sylar fanvids that I simply adore (he is deliciously evil and then there's dorky mama's boy Gabriel, too!):

I loved that scene when he picked up Mr. Muggles and squeezed his nose. I could tell that he's a dog person in real life and it just added another layer of creepiness for Sylar when he did it.

I've been listening to the novelization at work when I get sleepy. It's great fun.

I posted earlier (somewhere?) about Quinto's narration. He's kind of adorable, particularly his sardonic voice when reading the more wry parts of the story. His Nero his hilarious too, in a good way. And I liked all his women's voices.

His Scotty needs work, like Nile says. I thought his Kirk was kind of bad, though. It was very 14 year old boy. And I'm on the fence about his Chekov. Anton does it better, but of course he does. I think Quinto's is pretty good for someone attempting to do that many voices. Same with his McCoy.

I have to say though, having nothing to do with Quinto, I much prefer the movie's characterization to the novel's. When Kirk goes on and on about how special he is after the Kobayashi Maru I want to spork him, and when Spock is going through his logic for not following Nero I, seriously, could jettison him without a life pod. If the original script was like that, I'm glad they dialed it back.

The Chekov voice is entertaining if you just replace the mental image of Yelchin for one of Bartok. And funnily enough, it appears that someone else over at Sarmy also noted that his Russian accent is a dead-ringer for Hank Azaria's little bat.

I also noted that his worried, scared Winona voice is identical to the one he used for the shape-shifter freaking out when Sylar kills him. Now that shape-shifter's death scene is always going to remind me of ZQ's attempt at sounding womanly. LOL. It totally adds to the funny in that scene.

And that second-long groping scene became about a zillion times more explicit in the narration.

The novelization only made me more hungry for the Amanda/Sarek/baby Spock scene.

I'm reposting this pic on this page because wow, the handsomeness of the two is almost too much to bear
Thanks Nile :techman:

and when Spock is going through his logic for not following Nero I, seriously, could jettison him without a life pod.
 I'm keeping the novelization to read during my trip to Wales next week and I can't wait to read it. It's always interesting to see how they don't keep some things or add some. Most of the time, I'm like "I'd so would have wanted to see that!".
I've glanced through the scene in which Kirk is accused of cheating and the dialogue between him and Spock is longer and so harsh, you can see that they both are stubborn and clever. I wish they could have kept all of it. A 3 hours movie would have been perfect ;)

If someone was here on May 12th, the day the unabridged audio book emerged, they would have seen me evangelizing for it.

My description went, "...like warm, dark chocolate," among other comments. Indranee remembers, I'm sure.

Checking in...woohoo for Chris Pine/Captain Kirk! ;)

And thanks for all the delicious pictures in this thread, the first ZQ with the ice cream is very cute and the tuxedo ones.

I do, too. I keep thinking about that line every time I hear his voice. And you're perfectly right, too. 'tis was a very fitting description.

I love the coordinating tweed. How often do you hear that? Coordinating tweed? Also, coordinating pinstripe and coordinating sports coat + jeans.

Not all coordinating, but still cute. And bell bottom jog pants = :)

And here, no coordinating, but the whole group stands by color of suit. Whee!

I love this pic. Obviously it's Dark Suit and No Tie day. But also, they look like they're attending a plain clothes superhero meeting or something. (In Paris?) Clark Kent and Cpt America, maybe?

^ yeah, they're very well-matched, are they not? :)

seriously, people, you have no idea. what was that thread again about the producers wanting to discourage K/S by using the Spock/Uhura romance? was that writer serious? discourage? If JJ wanted to discourage K/S he would NOT be choosing these two guys for Kirk and Spock. he would also not be sending Pine and Quinto out TOGETHER for the PR packets. they went everywhere together!

JJ knows this is truly, TRULY catching lightening in a bottle twice. Quinto and Pine, besides being too beautiful for words, have explosive chemistry not only onscreen but also offscreen. it's a true bromance.

just check the K/S-centered stories on fanfiction.net -- they're threatening to overtake the Spock/Uhura stories in number AND in quality. K/S is here to stay. and JJ is pretty darned fine with it, I might venture to guess. it gets the butts in the theatre
