Okay, somebody explain to me how Spock, Kirk, et al never ONCE said - "oh, hey, they share the same name! What gives?" TBH, this was a stupid stunt. Let's face it -- one of many the MIC have committed. She could have easily had SOME OTHER NAME.

Who's to say they didn't? We aren't privy to every conversation they had once they discovered Khan's full name. How much imagination does it take to come up with an "unseen scene"?

I believe that's a story that Walter Koenig came up with because I'm sure I saw him tell that story at a convention once.

The problem is that most of it conflicts with screen canon in one way or another. Even a very recent IDW comic book run was simply bulldozed by one episode of Starfleet Academy. They have to be relegated to the multiverse established in Lower Decks.

That's part of why I always preferred Star Wars to Star Trek, although its expanded universe was ultimately rebooted (even including decanonization of 2 tv movies and 3 cartoons). The new expanded universe in SW isn't nearly as ambitious as the old one for fear of conflicting with future filmed works.

Oh, come on! You're telling me that Kirk didn't take a Bird of Prey to the Mirror Universe before the Whale Probe!?

SW tries to keep the contnuity conflicts minimal even after the reboot. The most glaring contradiction is K-2SO's origin, which was overriden by an episode of Andor. That was still just a 1 shot comic though and not equivalent to, say, a whole multiyear comic book run of IDW being overriden by an episode of SFA

The complaints from SW fans about irritations between the books and films and shows are common. It's primarily a talking point not actual practice.

I know, but a few years back IDW and the comic's writer went off script and started claiming otherwise: https://redshirtsalwaysdie.com/2022...mics-starting-with-an-homage-to-the-watchmen/ . Ironically that run was the first to go come SFA. I'm wondering now if that was a coincidence.
