Kurtzman intentionally killed Legacy?

He's not the only source talking about it.
Gosh, I feel I pull this out more times than I should, but damn if it always seems to find itself appropriate:

Above: sources (YT channel host/insiders giving a voice to the *real* sources, who cannot be named or verified due to conditions of anonymity but trust me bro).

This.

"I made Star Trek great again, it's the best Star Trek, no other Star Trek comes close. It's made a lot of money and I get a lot of compliments about it. I've won every single Star Trek debate so far"

And then probably something to do with Terry Matalas being a childless cat lord.
"On Bajor, they're eating the hara cats! They're eating the targs. They're eating the pets!"

If you get them all at their best and squish them together, you get RDM.

I put very little thought into that; essay rebuttals not invited.
Now I'm imagining the group of them standing there, they gradually drift and merge together. The merged entity immediately turns into an amorphous blob before gradually taking shape and becoming Ron Moore.
"On Bajor, they're eating the hara cats! They're eating the targs. They're eating the pets!"
Or to make it more topical, why don't you ever find Caitians serving aboard a Springfield class starship...?

First it was Bermaga, then it was JJ Abrams and now it's Alex Kurtzman. Star Trek fandom history of always needing a boogeyman to hate on for "destroying the franchise" always repeats itself.

"Bermaga" ... That's a new one!

So you'd rather have Kurtzman-wank instead. Paramount wants Legacy. Skydance wants Legacy. The fans want Legacy. Only Kurtzman doesn't want it b/c his galaxy-sized ego is offended. Unfortunately, the rather predatory contract Paramount was forced into by Secret Hideout apparently has ruinous clauses that basically put SH in the driver's seat for the forseeable future, and the copyright laws will ensure that they can basically gut any attempt at continuing any of their shows (SNW. LD, etc) without them.

How can people not use critical thinking skills when presented with information like this?

Firstly, Paramount has lawyers and they would have reviewed any contract and would not have signed off on a contract detrimental to the studio they represent. Secondly, Secret Hideout is a PRODUCTION COMPANY. In the hierarchy of dominance, they are like the lowest monkey on the tree.

Kurtzman doesn't own Paramount or Skydance. He runs Star Trek. That is it. Kurtzman has people that he reports to, people who hired him and people who can fire him if they so deem it. He didn't just show up one day, kick open the gates of Paramount studios and force the studio executives to sign some 'predatory contract'. Like, what on earth are you on about.

Kurtzman has been pretty open about his support for Legacy. The reason it isn't a thing is that it would be a more expensive show to make at a time when Paramount was up for sale. There is also already a series set on a Starship called Enterprise in the form of SNW. The studio are operating from the perspective of Star Trek being a profitable franchise long-term. Legacy, or a show similar to it will probably be in the cards for when SNW ends.

Maintaining a franchise is like making an omelette. Sure you can use the 12 eggs you have to make a super omelette, but it will make you sick and probably put you off making an omelette ever again. So, you have to save some eggs for the omelette you want to make tomorrow and not stuff your face to the point of overeating something delicious.

Between this, VisionQuest, and Enemy Mine, Legacy is never happening, lol.

The show has also been in Development Hell for five years :shifty: :
There had recently been widespread speculation that the show was no longer moving forward at Netflix. Originally announced in 2019, the first iteration of the series was overseen by the Russo brothers of MCU fame. But then Jeff Kline was announced as the new executive producer and creative lead on the show in 2021 after the Russos departed over creative differences, with Brandon Routh being announced as voicing the series lead not long after.

It may or may not happen.
